So, we had Deflategate and now the newest sports drama is upon us. I'm sure we have all heard about it. The Little League team from Chicago has forfeited all of its wins and the U.S. championship for using players that lived outside their competition district. I feel sorry for the kids but this is a blatant disregard for the rules on eligibility, which directly affects on field performance. I can't blame the kids at all. In my youth I'd have played on any all-star assembled team they put in front of me as well. I can't blame the parents either because if my child wanted to play he probably would have been allowed. I have to blame the organizers of their particular district for even creating this situation.

That said, I think taking their wins away is the right decision. It has to hurt the kids because they must feel they are being punished but they were great kids during the tournament (by all accounts I have seen) and they played with skill and dignity. Their accomplishments were great but they were not obtained legally. What are your thoughts?

it doesn't matter .. not even a little bit ..

Those kids lived the process and had the experiences of winning and of achieving That's what they're going to keep with them as they grow up. That's what's going to help define them as human beings and nobody can take that away. All this other crap about historical records. Nobody gives any fucks about.

I agree, the experience is what will matter to these kids in the long run.

I think that the coaches and administrators involved in this situation should have received a much harsher punishment than a simple "you can't be part of our club any more!" slap on the wrist.

This is what you get.

Little League is on ESPN, for Christ's sake.  That's why this shit gets perverted and people cheat and kids suffer.  The public interest in sports is skewing younger and younger and younger.  National signing for college.  Little League on TV.  What's next -- Pee Wee football on MNF offseason?

Is't it sad that little leaguers will get punished more harshly than an NFL team?
