I have been thinking about it and wow do we have a lot of challenges this year.

We are trying to address QB and the right side of the line which in itself requires premier players.  On top of that we have to get a good pass rusher which is another premier player spot.

Then we have to make adjustments to convert our offense to a "west coast" style offense and our defense to a base 4-3.

Our D-line has contract issues, our O-line is overpaid and our safeties need an upgrade.

Finally, we have an all new coaching staff that must evaluate what they need without hands on information and then implement totally new systems in OTAs and training camp.

Tough year for Ireland.

Funny. I was thinking business as usual. It's hard for me to remember the one person away offseasons.

actually I think this is Ireland's easiest year in Miami. He has no Parcells breathing down his back. He has a lot of cap space to work with.  He clearly has the support of the owner 100%. And there are multiple "franchise QB candidates" on the open market for him to land one a lot easier than in most years. He has a Top 10 draft pick.

I think every year is a tough year for a GM. They have to decide way ahead of time on which FA's they need to re-sign and which other players they need to pursue, all with keeping a reasonable budget that will allow them to sign the draft picks. I think there is a lot to it and that is why we see so many of them fail.
