Rodman has always been known for doing unorthodox things but this takes the cake.  He hung out with Kim Jong Un and actually likes the guy.

I've met him a few times way, way back in the day. (If I remember correctly he co-owned a pretty popular club in Dallas.) He actually seemed pretty cool at the time. Of course, this was when he was still playing.

Saw the interview. It's odd to see someone praising someone as "cool" and "likeable" when they retain, as part of their regime, prison camps like this:

^^^With what I know of Rodman, he likely didn't do much homework on the country and I would bet big money he didn't see anything his North Korean escorts did not want him to see.

^^^

Would likely agree. People see NK differently depending upon 1) their politics, and 2) their view into the trustworthiness of their "tour guides."

VICE's Guide to NK is eye-opening for how plainingly bizarre the whole ordeal is. The whole place is just fk'd in the head, per this view:

Then there's Alun Hill's view, which is much more benign  and trusting:

I take the view of VICE, especially after this video:

Oddly, my understanding is that Rodman's trip was filmed by VICE's Shane Smith, the man in the video above, and that a miniseries will be produced for HBO in regards to everything they got on film:

The following actions in North Korea can get you thrown in jail indefinitely:

1. Going out without tour guides present

2. Talking to the locals

3.  Taking pictures of anything without permission

4.  Attempting to enter the country by any border other than China and without an approved visa

5.  Distributing religious materials or materials that contain anti Communist propaganda

If you got rid of the other issues, they could rename it "Spider-Danville" or "Buddhastate."
