The #1 seed likely gets you:
- the emotional boost of surpassing Chicago and ending strong
- an additional home game if you make the Eastern Conference Finals
- Philly in the 1st round
- Boston in the 2nd round

The #2 seed likely gets you:
- Knicks in 1st round
- Indiana in 2nd round

I think you can make an argument that the #2 seed is the easier path.

Thoughts?

I agree there Dave.  You want to avoid Boston at all costs.

Indiana is playing well and I wouldn't be against them playing Chicago, though.  I think that Chicago matches up well with Boston.  Whereas, Indy might give them trouble.

If you're the HEAT and can envision a situation where you don't have to take the Bulls, you take it.

Home court all the way please. If Miami plays up to their potential and coached with some decency, I'm not scared of any team.

Chicago clinches number 1 seed

Miami settles for number 2
