Super Fans do get some special treatment and perks but not financial help.  For instance ... Papa Pump for the Dolphins has been in commercials and been able to attend various events that others would find difficult to get into. It also gives him access to players and staff that most people do not have.  He might get a few sponsors but nothing from the team. More than anything he gets to hug lots of women!!!

The sports media is about 15 teams large and consists of: Lakers, Heat, Celtics, Knicks, Cowboys, Giants, Jets, Eagles, Steelers, Patriots, Yankees, Red Sox

If the conversation for these teams isn't warranted, they will find ways to talk about them anyway.  I swear, when I drove back from the Jets game to Florida, we got to hear national radio for 2 straight days.  The story wasn't about the Dolphins beating the Jets.  The story was that the Jets lost.

A Jets fan retiring is a national story.  How ridiculous is that?  If Big Papa Pump retires because we suck, you think that's making it on to ESPN?

We all know the media is biased on several issues, why should sports be any different?

I love superfans.  All of the Dolphins superfans I've ever met have been incredibly welcoming, warm, and inclusive.  Big Papa Pump is just a regular guy, but now, he gets other people involved.  He gets the crowd going.  ...and if you walk up to him, he'll be happy to see you.

The Bandits are the same way.  I ran into "Dolph Vader" the other day and he took a picture and gave me a business card.

I think that "what they get out of it" is that they get to be a bigger part of the game.  As long as they continue to make the game enjoyable for the other fans, I hope they do.

A Jets fan retiring is a national story.  How ridiculous is that? 

That was my exact thought yesterday when I saw this on ESPNs website.....Who gives a shit. I actually commented on the story asking why this was news and of course all the little trolls told me how I fail at life because I read the story and commented on it.

Yep. And his favorite all time player is Paul Warfield (he still claims that to this day)
