Winners
Dion Jordan - Looked good with only a few days of practice.
Michael Egnew - Maybe the MMA stuff did help. Lets hope he keeps it up.
Jonas Gray - Power running with a little giddyup and move although a couple of those runs might have been Gillislee, I get them confused.
Pat Devlin - Doesn't look like your typical 3rd string QB. Always seems to play well in pre-season games.
Derrick Shelby - Couple of sacks I believe.
Keenan Davis - Nice TD grab and 4th down catch.

Losers
Marvin McNutt - Not on the same page with Tannehill. Timing might just be off, but looked more like poor routes from McNutt.
Dallas Thomas - Looked like a rookie.
Lamar Miller - Redeemed himself a little with a couple solid runs, but just can't cough up the football like that.
Chad Bumphis - Made a couple of nice plays but then has a ball bounce off his hands for a pick 6.
Matt Moore - Was gonna leave him out till he botches the snap on 3rd and 1. This combined with the sack in the RZ made for an ugly stat line. Thought it was interesting they put him back out there after Devlin. I think it's only a matter of time before Devlin is the backup to Tannehill.

The real losers are the dolphins if Matt moore doesn't perform. We are hoping he does good in the preseason so we can use him as trade bait. Devlin can get the job done, at least I hope.

The Good:

Dion Jordan- Now we all know why the Dolphins traded up to get him. This guy can do it all

Derrick Shelby- Had a couple nice sacks and made a strong case to be the fourth defensive end

Jonas Gray/Mike Gillislee- Both boys displayed power, speed, and the ability to catch passes out of the backfield.  Gray was slightly better than Gillislee but it's good to see this team having depth at running back.

Keenan Davis/Chad "The Hound" Bumphis- Nice catches by both guys to sustain drives.  They both made a case to lock up the last two receiver spots.

The Bad:

Marvin McNutt- Dropped two passes and did nothing to impress

Lamar Miller- A couple nice runs in limited action but no excuse for fumbling away the ball on the offense's first play from scrimmage

Red Zone Offense- New players,  same old problem.  Five trips to the red zone.  One field goal and one touchdown.  Unacceptable.

The Ugly:

Third Team Defense- If you're gonna strip the ball, jump the hell on it, especially if it rolls forward

Dallas Thomas- Please block somebody, anybody.

Matt Moore- Don't even get me started with this clown

I only saw the first half, but I was impressed by Gray too.  The left tackle position is not making me feel very good right now.

There was nothing to learn from this game.  Nothing.  It was the first preseason game.

I know it's only preseason, but I feel I learned a few things - the Dolphins better spend some time in practice working on wrapping players up....the tackling was pathetic.  We have some work to do at left tackle.  The new uniforms don't look good on the field.  Not enough contrast.  They need to add something.

I don't understand why they didn't leave Tannehill in for another series.  He wasn't crisp, so why not let him get a little work in game time situations?  I realize he could be injured, but isn't that always the case?

you wanna risk him being injured in a meaningless game? Uh, no!

He wasn't wearing a RED JERSEY last night, he could have been hit for real and our season would be over on Aug 5th!

This comes off as an excuse for me.  This was the first game, but these guys have been playing since they were 6 years old.  If you can't do basic stuff, like tackle, I have pretty big concerns.

If you can't tackle in the first game after months off, it doesn't mean you can't tackle.  It means you might be rusty.  Until you see repeated behavior in games where coaches game-plan and players are playing for real, then you can get concerned.

The only guys that are playing to the "Real" level are the third team fighting for jobs.

But still, you hate to see sloppy play like we saw last night.

they have only had 2 weeks of practice and most of the guys who played the bulk of the game won't be on this team in a month. I don't care if the undrafted free agents and scrubs on this roster play bad on August 4th! It means nothing.

It's just the preseason!
