The lawsuit against the NFL brought by an ever-increasing number of veteran players over head injuries has finally been settled (pending judicial approval).

The settlement fund is set at $765M with almost everything going towards compensation ($10M for research and 10% of the remaining for medical exams).

18,000 ex-NFL players are covered and are eligible for up to $5M each, depending on age, years played, and diagnosis.

Reading that number makes my head hurt...that should be good for $1,000 easy.

I still don't get it.  They made the choice to play football.  Why is the NFL responsible for what happened to them.

They didn't know the side effects of concussions. And in most cases were told by the team doctors and coaches back in the day to just shake it off and go back out there and play or else you won't be on this team. And some of the players were flat out lied to about the side effects in some instances.

Look the NFL got off easy with this settlement. It's a drop in the bucket for a league that makes $9 billion a year now. The players deserved the money. Glad it finally got worked out for all parties involved.

The NFL got off cheap with this one.  I bet they are very happy this is behind them now.

I hope the players are able to get the help they need with this settlement.
