Is Russell Wilson the best quarterback in the NFL this season?

I'd say #2 with very little chance to catch Manning. -EK

I've not seen many Seahawks games this season, but his advanced stats don't exactly scream "best in NFL". He's 7th in both ESPN's QBR and football Outsiders' DYAR (which adjusts for defenses). Manning, Rivers, Brees, and Rodgers score higher in both metrics.

Is he just better than his advanced numbers? Traditional passer rating loves his touchdown to interception ratio and doesn't care about his 17th in total passing yardage or the opponents, he's faced.

I believe Wilson has fewest passing attempts of all starting QB's in the league  at 300 or so attempts through 12 games (take away guys who have missed games for injuries ie Rodgers, Cutler; and guys who didn't start till mid-season ie Foles, Glennon). Kapernick might have a couple less attempts after last nights game, but you get the point. Wilson isn't asked to throw alot.

Seattle coaches are good not to expose him and just have him drop back and throw it 40 times a game because he can't and still have that offense be successful.

Wilson is the perfect QB for what they want to do. He is on the perfect team with the perfect coaching staff for his abilities. When Washington fires Mike Shannahan after the season they should copy this Seattle blueprint and hire someone as Head Coach and Offensive coordinator who fits RGIII's abilities and what he does best to get the most out of him. Because if you switch RGIII and Wilson and put them on the opposite teams I believe you would see RGIII being a mega-star and Wilson struggling. Wilson is a very good player but he couldn't have landed in a better spot.

Nice to see the 49ers get the win over Seattle today. Wish we could face them on our home field, should it come to it in the playoffs, but that train has already left the station.

Maybe the Seahawks actually have a legitimate home field advantage

^^^ I think that has pretty much been established at this point. Seattle is brutally tough at home, and the deafening noise that comes from their "12th Man" crowd is a big part of that.

Yes, but Pittsburgh has brought the concept of a 12th man to a whole new level.

Hmmmm.....

I don't see why that can't be matched by other teams.  Do people have stronger lungs in Seattle?
