There are few kickers that are "automatic" in this league anymore. The kid in Philly is having an amazing year this year but he just as easily could go out and miss 2 this Sunday which sends him in a spiral for the rest of the season.

Kickers really are a dime a dozen these days and no team should invest big bucks into them. Miami's mistake was investing a draft pick into Sturgis which puts the extra pressure on him that he should preform at a higher level since he is a rare kicker who was drafted.

Sturgis isn't perfect but he is good enough at this point. If he misses a couple big kicks you can easily dump him and pick up someone else.

Nice... you've learned a phrase from a reporter.

Sorry, I don't follow you?

Dolphins beat writer Omar Kelly infamously "insults" people on Twitter by calling them "ball watchers"

Ok, well I don't even use Twitter and I certainly don't follow Kelly. He's probably my least favorite beat writer.

And I think insult is a strong word, it just means someone who is focused on where the ball is going and not paying attention to everything else.

Kelly didn't coin this phrase as far as I know.

I'm sure he didn't but he uses it frequently, as if to say "you don't know what you're talking about because you only watch the ball, and not EVERYTHING ELSE happening on the field."

That is what most fans do.

I guess his point is: "most fans are uneducated about the intricacies of football" so they are not on a level to achieve intelligent conversation on the topic.

Kelly stole the term from a book Pat Kirwin wrote a few years back
