I've been an Android guy all my life but the Samsung s10 5G is disappointing.  Have yet to get a 5G signal on it

I usually don't buy the expensive models. I'll wait until a mid level phone goes on sale and buy it. Phones usually last me 2-3 years. My current one is a Moto Z2 Force which was the last flagship level phone that Motorola made. Got it a year ago on sale for $99 and it's been the best performing phone that I've ever had. I can't bring myself to spend more than a couple hundred dollars on a phone.

Mint shipped the sim cards today, so I should have the stuff pretty soon.  I'll definitely let you know.

My functionality sucks, too.  The iPhone 11 isn't supported (either that or something is wrong).  I can't consistently send pics via SMS.  Unless you're also on an iPhone, I also have some issues sending group texts.  Interacting with non-iPhones is janky, in general.
How is the Mint service working for you?

So far so good....super cheap.

My plan is $25 a month.  My wife's is $15.

It is fine.  It's not the BEST reception I've had (ATT seems to be the best locally), but it's as good as the other stuff, more or less.

Meets my needs, cheap as shit, no extra add-on bullshit.  Works better than what I had before.
