Dolphins agreed to terms with OT Ereck Flowers on a 3-year contract worth $30 million.

$19.95 million of the deal is fully guaranteed. Sheesh. The former No. 9 overall pick of the 2015 draft has largely been anyone's idea of a bust through five seasons, flaming out with each of the Giants, Jaguars and now Redskins. PFF did grade Flowers more favorably as their 31st-ranked guard in 2019, but before that he finished outside of their top-40 tackles from 2015-2018. Of course, even Flowers might be an upgrade to this Miami offensive line that ranked 32nd and 29th in adjusted line yards per rush and adjusted sack rate, respectively, in 2019 (Football Outsiders). The Dolphins will reportedly use Flowers at guard.

Gotta admit, this is not the start to the offseason that I wanted and it hit my confidence in this group. If they see him going up in talent then it's understandable but they paid him like he has a years long track record of success when he has been a massive failure so far. Time will tell but definitely a bad start.

In my humble opinion it will be impossible for the Dolphins to reach the expectations that the fans have. They see all that money and all those draft picks and they think they are just going to turn that into a star studded team. If it were that easy, everyone would be doing it.

I don't want to spend 30% of our cap on one guy, but I do want us to sign solid players. If we have to sign some question marks with potential, I prefer not to pay them at top market value.

Then you will lose out to teams that will. Until Miami turns the corner and starts making the playoffs, then money is really the only thing you have to offer to a player.

Shaq Lawson is set to be signed as well ...

Lawson is slated to sign a three-year deal with the Dolphins worth $30 million, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

The 25-year-old defensive end recorded 32 tackles and 6.5 sacks in 15 games for the Bills last year. The looming addition of the 2016 first-rounder should provide a nice boost to Miami's pass rush in 2020 and beyond.

A lot of the top O-Line guys came off the board already but we absolutely need to sign one high quality O-Line player. Maybe not the top LT or RT but someone of caliber. We can't expect to draft someone in the 3rd round to be our franchise LT or RT. I know we have lots of draft picks but weird things happen sometimes and who knows who will be left at 18 or 26.
