why would we want harbaugh? when has he ever won anything ?

The list of available coaches who have ever won anything is Pedersen and no one else. Harbaugh has been to the Superbowl and arguably would've won it if not for a bad final call. Excellent record with the Niners until he left due to issues with their GM, who is in the process of being run out of town in Jacksonville after 1 year.

He did have lots of success with Michigan but college is different in that recruiting is half the battle and coaching is a distant second. There is a reason Saban is a legend and it ain't Xs and Os. Of all the chocies available to us right now, Harbaugh is miles ahead of whoever number 2 is. Proven success who would field the best staff due to length in the game.

I got to be honest with you. If the Dolphins completely screw up this coaching hire, I'm seriously considering giving up on them. I don't live in Miami and I never have. I started rooting for Miami because of Shula and then because of Dan Marino. I'm tired of this franchise being where they are and not being able to do anything positive. If they screw this up, I might be changing allegiances. I barely watch the games as they are now because I don't enjoy watching them, mostly I only watch once the game is over and I know whether they won or lost so it's not so painful to watch. I'm close to my breaking point with this team and this coaching hire could put me over the edge. When they started to look for a coach and Ross said he wanted to hire one with some experience, I was excited, but that seems to have fallen by the wayside and they're back to just finding a hot OC that doesn't appear to know the first thing about being a head coach. If that happens, it might be the last straw for me.

Then go be like that wacko TommyNoleFin and root for Tampa Bay.  They've got their Lombardi Trophy but they are about to enter another elongated period of suckitude.
No, it wouldn't be another Florida team, that would just be kinda dumb. Can't see me rooting for the Cowboys as I've never liked them. Been thinking about retiring to Tennesse so perhaps that would make a good team to switch to? I could also go back to my roots and root for the Bears I suppose as I'm still a fair weather fan of both the Blackhawks and the White Sox so that would make some sense. Don't know, hadn't got to that point yet and I'm hoping I don't, but I don't think I've ever been this disheartened with this team. It's been a very long time rooting for them, some 40+ years now and to have never seen them come out on top and lately not even win a playoff game is tough. Just about every other team in the league I've seen have success since I started rooting for Miami, maybe if I switch teams Miami would actually win something and I could take some solace in that. I know how pathetic that sounds, but it's honestly where I'm at right now. I want to enjoy watching the games again.

Ummm, he took over a 6-10 49ers team and took them to three straight NFC title games and a Super Bowl.

With Alex Smith and then a QB who would eventually get benched for Blaine Gabbert. That's right, THE Blaine Gabbert.

I can understand trashing Harbaugh's attitude but his NFL resume is awesome and there is no one available with a better one.

I think the smart money would pick either Harbaugh or Pederson if available. Anything else is insanity. If they're not available, make them available. Ross net worth is $8.5 BILLION. Open the fucking checkbook and convince one of them. Otherwise why did you buy the fucking team? Everyone is for sale for the right price.

Maybe because Harbaugh hasn't forgotten the first time Ross tried to woo him to Miami and the way Ross went about it.   It's hard to shed a reputation as a bumbling idiot.

Not hard when you have Billions of Dollars and a better team to manage. Honestly, even if Ross is unlikeable, how hard can it be to work for him? He clearly doesn't know much about football and is usually busy giving money to Michigan and whatever his NY dealings are. Get your contract under your terms and you're set. The fact that not even a rumor of Ross talking to Harbaugh right now is scaring me.

I can't believe it's not a done deal with either Harbaugh or Pederson. What the fuck is $50-100 million out of $8.5 BILLION. Not even a drop in the bucket. If you had $8,500 in your savings account would you think twice about blowing $50-100 on a hobby over 5-10 years? I mean I'd think about it, but at the end of the day, there is no need owning an NFL franchise if you're not willing to do what it takes to win. Hell what did he spend on the stadium renovation for his laughing stock NFL team?

Fairley certain the coach's salary is a tax write off anyway since it's a business expense. There must be something else and it might be appeasing Michigan. If Harbaugh gets on that plane tomorrow, pretty sure it's a done deal for him and Minnesota.

Strange timing though since it's not really one of the more desirable job openings. Almost like he made up his mind just a few days ago to leave Michigan.
