It's fair to criticize the Lions for a failed pick, but they weren't drafting a QB in 2020 regardless; Stafford was still on the team. It's like criticizing the Seahawks or Texans for not drafting Jalen Hurts in 2020.
The main issue for me was that they were picking 3rd, which means they sucked. So, lots of holes on the team. Stafford was traded the following season but asusming they had no idea they would do that, they were not one player away anyway. Like the Falcons in 2021 when they selected Pitts, they should've auctioned off the pick and gotten a very good return.
Bad teams can ill afford to waste #3 overall picks.
