THE ASSCLOWN AWARD

« on: January 02, 2024, 01:19:51 pm »

Remember when the Raiders and Chargers were in the position where a tie could have gotten them both in.  They almost tied.  The Chargers were criticized for calling a timeout near the end of overtime, even though it wouldn't have stopped the Raiders from kicking the field goal.

If Miami is in the situation in overtime this Sunday, where they can kneel three times and get a tie, do you think Mike McDaniel will do it?

How does a tie help Miami? Aren't they still the #6 seed that way?

MIA wins the division if the next game is a tie, as they would be 11-5-1 and BUF would be 10-6-1.

Yeah I'm actually looking for a 23-23 tie with Buffalo.

If you can run the clock out and get a tie, you should.  It's like kneeling the ball to end a game...same idea.  So long as that's the #2 seed still.  If seeding is on the line (I don't know the exact tiebreakers), then there's incentive to go for the win, hoping for another home playoff game down the line.

MIA is locked into either the #2 or #6 seed.
BUF can be #2, #6, #7, or out entirely (with a loss + wins from IND & PIT).

Ah, duh. I forgot that Buf and Mia would have the same record if Buf wins but lose the division on the tie break. Obviously if going for the tie wins you the division you do it if the circumstances are right.

Miami being 2 with Buffalo either being 6 or out is ideal.
