I was at an ER at a local Kaiser hospital last month with a friend after he had three seizures in one night, and on a late Friday night/early Saturday morning with about a dozen other people in the ER, he had a bed in less than an hour.  (He does have health coverage with Kaiser.)  So maybe it depends on what they are treating you for.

^^^that definitely plays a part. The first time I had kidney stones I was getting tests and painkillers pretty quickly. They had to make sure it wasn't an appendix. They were very generous with the meds too. They hit me with morphine and that shit melted me into the bed.
