Mods, please make this a poll so we can get some votes:

Tyreek
Waddle
Tua
Ramsey
Chubb (admittedly still on PUP)
Armstead
Jackson

(These guys account for a HUGE chunk of our salary cap).

Feel free to mention others, but like I said, the people above this line make up the majority of the $$$ we are dishing out (and limiting out ability to get anyone else of note outside of the draft. Also, anyone else on our list playing for relative peanuts are likely to walk out, like many others already have).

The most overpaid and overrated Miami player for 2024 is in my opinion Tyreek Hill, closely followed by Jalen Ramsey.

After that it's a pretty big gap to the others who have performed close enough to what their contract was worth and/or suffered major injuries during the season.

I’m with you on Hill and Ramsey, Chubb shouldn’t be there because he was injured and those things happen and not his fault

I think Tyreek is the easy pick with Ramsey a close second. Ramsey didn't make pays but Tyreek literally get worse when you need him most. There is a highlight film going around with his blunders against the good teams. Tua elevates the team when he is here but his health is obviously an issue.

I don't think Waddle should even be considered, nor Chubb since he was injured all year.

Tyreek probably the most overpaid and overrated this year.

2nd place Armstead

3rd place Tua

I think the fact we have so many guys to choose from tells you a lot about why the Dolphins finished were they did.  If you have Tua available for all 17 games, Chubb in the lineup all year, and Armstead healthy for a couple more games, he'll never play a full season, and this team would have been an easy wild card team.

The initial post when I started this thread was back at the end of October when we were near/at our lowest ebb; I wanted a poll (which never happened) and threw a bunch of names out there to start.

So back then, it was before Waddle, Tua and Jackson put in a stretch of good games, and before we knew that Chubb would miss the whole season due to that injury (although I did note he was admittedly still PUP). I thought Armstead was better than decent, and you can probably excuse the others not named Hill and Ramsey because of injuries.

On the other hand, I think you can throw Jordan Poyer into the top three overpaid underachievers for the 2024 season.

Chubb missed 24 games in Denver before we traded for him.  That's on our GM just like Armstead who came here with a history of missing a lot of games. This year he starts more often but quickly removes himself.  Waddle seems to be injured a lot as well so it seems crazy to rely on him being healthy.

I don't think any are worthy of being overrated but was addressing our injury issues. It's a common theme for us and deserves to be looked at. I mean ... how much are we realistically going to be able to count on Phillips and Chubb next season given their histories?

At least Phillips is still on a rookie contract. Chubb is going to cost us a small fortune next season (if he's still on the list).

Philips is in the last year of his contact at 13.2 million and will be a free agent at the end of the season. Considering our history we will likely re-sign him to a big long term contract early this season where as we allowed Wilkens to play to the end and walk as a free agent.

I think it's probably Ramsey, just in terms of money.

Tyreek is hard to judge because you can argue that he helps you just by being on the field.

We saw that later on, teams committed to the two high stuff but it opened up the best TE year we’ve ever had. I hope Reek gets his head right and comes back

At the moment, I don't. The guy is such a certified flake, I don't think his head will ever come around to thinking of something other than himself (or his immediate dawgs, and the evidence so far is even that doesn't stack up).

I think you are way overrating Tyreek's influence on Jonnu's stats for the season. Waddle's should have been off the charts by the same logic... and they aren't.

If we do take him back, he should be stripped of a captaincy role immediately (regardless of what the rest of the team may think). If the talk that he is the main offender being late to meetings is true, he simply doesn't deserve it. The guy is a professional athlete, and if he was a genuine leader he wouldn't do this kind of crap (or bail out during the last game, or the well documented - and filmed - talk afterward).

He's burnt his bridges already in my book. I'd rather see his ass out the door to somewhere else, and wear the cap hit right now. If he is back next season, he has a LOT of goodwill to mend.
