Frerotte set to sign with St. Louis

Former Dolphins quarterback Gus Frerotte will sign with St. Louis today, Sports Illustrated reported.

Frerotte was cut by the Dolphins on Tuesday after being unable to reach agreement on a restructured contract combined with the team acquiring new starting quarterback Daunte Culpepper from Minnesota.

Frerotte will be reunited in St. Louis with Rams head coach Scott Linehan, who was the Dolphins' offensive coordinator in 2005. Frerotte, who is expected to serve as Marc Bulger's backup in St. Louis, was 9-6 as a Dolphins starter last season.

Gus, although I screamed myself hoarse at the Hall of Fame and Jets/Fins games this year cursing at you, I would like to thank you for helping our team last year.  We were in need of stability and leadership, and you provided it.  You played to the best of your ability, even if you are just Jay Fiedler who's hit the weight room a [italic] little bit [/italic] more.  You were less mobile and made the same bone-headed decisions he made, but you made far less, and at least you didnt throw any pick-sixers and singlehandedly snuff us out of games the way he would.  You kept your head in the game despite suffering through injury and the QB controversy with Sage.  You did exactly what you were brought here to - manage games and provide a constant to a team in the midst of a massive overhaul.  Thank you, but you won't be missed.  Good luck elsewhere!

This is probably an attitude more of us should have.

I agree. If you look back to some posts during the season, I said we should keep him to mentor a rookie for next year.
