Remembering David Woodley- RIP

If we could, let's all take a moment to pay homage to David Woodley. David was a true stop-gap QB between Griese & Marino, but he does deserve his own recognition. I can remember several of his games vividly. The '80 MNF game against the Pats where Cosell announces John Lennon has been murdered, the '82 snow-plow game, the '82 AFC Championship(even though the defense was the deciding factor), and of course, SB 17. David may have had erratic play at times, but, everyone has their good days & bad days. I was only 12-15 between 1980-83 when he played. It makes me appreciate those days even more so now that I am older & disabled. There were some true "Glory Days" in the early '80's before Marino came on board. Thank you David Woodley for doing what you could to help the Dolphins win & have a chance to win the SB. Also, my heart-felt sympathy goes out to the Woodley Family. This has to be a trying time.

Hats off & thumbs up to David Woodley for doing what he could to help the Dolphins win at any cost. I would like to say again, thank you & those times are cherished. You truly had your 15 minutes of fame, or your "One Moment In Time"!!
You are truly missed, but you'll live on in my heart forever!!!

Because May 4, 2006 (tomorrow) is his death date. He hasn't been gone but 3 years. And it must be hard on his family because that's something deep down that you never really get over. When I was in the Burn Unit in Winston- Salem for 3 months between May- August 2002, my Dad died on July 13, 2002 of a massive heart attack. Well, looking at the time I was in the hospital & he died, it's obvious I didn't get to go to the receiving of friends/family, or the funeral itself. My Dad's only been gone 4 years & you don't think I think about him come July 13?? I know we all at some point have to move on, but it's been pretty tuff without my Dad around. It's not like David or my Dad died 20 years ago and I was bringing this up, it's only 3 & 4 years ago and that is still pretty fresh in people's minds. If it was 20 or more years ago for both, I could see why you would ask your question. I just meant it must be hard on his family because it's still so recent. I mean, it is in the 2000's. Imagine the shock I felt laying in the Hospital when I got told my Dad died. The hurt I felt when I couldn't go to either service. Also, the hurt & pain I felt when I came home in August & he wasn't there. With all I went thru in the Hospital & coming home to face my Dad's death in my own way the best I could, it's been tuff. Reggie Roby died Feb. 22, 2005. That's only a little over a year. Are his family & friends supposed to forget about him because he's been gone a little over a year?? I don't think so. Like I said, I know we all have to move on at some point, but all 3 of those deaths are still pretty recent and fresh in people's minds. You just don't magically "forget" or "drop someone" out of your mind or heart because they pass away. I thought I was doing a good thing in remembering David Woodley for what he did do to help the Dolphins. I was giving him a little respect & appreciation.
I guess you all didn't understand what I meant. He probably is the most popular stop-gap Qb in NFL history.

BTW, I wasn't trying to gravedig, I just thought I would do something good because his death is still pretty recent. Sorry I was wrong.

Don't worry about idiots and their comments about your posts.  An intelligent and/or mature person would just move on without being overwhelmed by the urge to make an immature toughguy remark.  As for the unintelligent and immature, it's just something we have to continually deal with.

You are right, but, he did ask me a question of what I meant so I tried to explain it to him the best I could. Like i said it has only been 3 years. It's not like it's a 100 years ago. So, that's still pretty recent. I just meant it probably is still hard on his family at this time of the year. And I wasn't trying to gravedig or time warp, because if you've noticed, Frimp didn't realize he had died. I'm not trying to be a smart-aleck or be unreasonable behind my computer. I'm just trying to join a Dolphins board & make some friends is all. Seems like I have to stay in the apologetic mood all the time for fear of saying something wrong. But you are right. Next time I'll just try to move on. But I was only trying to explain myself.
