THE ASSCLOWN AWARD

« on: March 12, 2008, 01:02:55 am »

What do you guys think happens at QB after this year.  Will the following trend continue?

2005: Our top 2 guys were Sage and Gus.  Both were gone at the end of the season.

2006: Our top 2 guys were Joey Harrington and Daunte.  Both were gone at the end of the season.

2007:  Our top 2 guys were Cleo and Trent.  Both were gone at the end of the year.

Now it is 2008.  We have Beck and McCown as the only 2 quarterbacks on the roster.

Does the trend continue?  Do you guys think they will be gone at the end of the season?

Will we bring in a veteran as our third quarterback? or take one in the draft?

We need some stability at the quarterback position.  This overturning and switching needs to stop.  Otherwise, we will never improve.

This is probably our biggest mystery going into the offseason.  I wonder how long it will be before we know the quarterbacks on our roster of 2008

I'll stick to my outlandish prediction from a couple of months ago... John Beck has started his last game for Miami. He was a mistake by the previous regime, and I don't see Parcells-Ireland-Sparano as the types who would play a player "just because" he was a former 2nd round pick.

McCown will start from game one on next season, and Miami will draft a developmental QB between rds 3 and 5, and I think they'll look at "which prospect could handle being thrown into the fire the quickest" as a primary consideration. If McCown struggles, either the rook will come in, or my prediction above will be shot to hell. If I had to throw a dollar at a long-odds bet, I'd go with Dennis Dixon in round 4.

I'm sure it's a longshot, but just imagine this backfield: Dixon out of the shotgun with Ronnie Brown to his left and Ricky Williams to his right, then line TG Jr. up in the single-wing position.

Shall we call it the "Shot-Ginn"?

John Beck has started his last game for Miami.

This is starting to become the new version of "give him his walking papers"  Wink

Seeing Philly clearly unnerved by the ref's warning, Tommy moves in after the fight resumes and lands a devistating right to Philly's temple, sending him sprawling on the canvas.

Beck proved nothing last season other than he's not cut out to be an NFL QB.  Let's see if he can disprove that in training camp.

John Beck will be the Opening Day starter.  No disrespect to Josh McCown, but c'mon.  Josh McCown?  It'll be Beck.

McCown will be the starter we will draft a real franchise qb in Matt Ryan, Beck is young and will make a great back up for this team.

Josh McCown will beat out John Beck to be the opening day starter for the Miami Dolphins in 2008.  Whatever Qb Miami drafts this year,  will probrably see playing time at some point unless McCown is playing really well.

McCown will start 4-5 games, then be benched for Beck who will finish out the year.  I dont think either QB will win many games, but I think the front office will adress the need for a QB in 2009 and not this year.

OMG I find myself agreeing with Tommy, unless they do a draft and trade.  I agree with Stroke that they will draft a QB in the middle rounds.  Beck will beat out McCown in training camp.

So saith StL (with apologies to Maine).
