MATTY ICE NO.1 PICK

Email
« on: March 26, 2008, 06:25:36 pm »

With Ted Ginn now our starting wide reciever his kick return duties are over. There is no reason anymore for Ginn to return Kickoffs or Punts. Forget about what Scam said about how exicting a kickreturner he was. (Yeah RIght). That was in college against slow inferior talent, against players who are now construction workers, accountants, insurance salesmen,  inmates in the federal prison systems of America and out of work college flunkies.

Lorenzo Booker is a more natural Kickoff and Punt returner and since he is our third down back he will always be fresh. Ginn will play on offense only and become our next Chris Chambers.

I tried an experiment in Madden 08 and Booker returned 6 kickoffs for touchdowns in a season and had a 33.5 yd kickoff average.  In 1998 John Avery returned kickoff for us and did very well.

Booker will be our returner and Ginn will concentrate on just catching the ball and running for scores. Matty ICE will be the one sending lasers his way.

I am not sold on Ginn, he will be the best we have at wide receiver. He can't run good clean routes and I assumed doubled team since we have no other threat in that position.

I don't think Ginn is out of the picture as a returner, but Booker could and should get some reps returning kicks.

Sarcastic? No, not a chance. The Madden argument really won me over. I mean, if it works in Madden, you KNOW it's going to work in real life. That was probably Cam's biggest mistake here in Miami. Not playing enough Madden.

You really make my head hurt.  If anybody takes return duties away from Ginn, it'll probably be Tab Perry.  Perry was primarily a returner in Cinncinati.

i liked ginn as kick returner, 3 TD's 2 called back so technically 1. When was the last time a dolphin player had more then 2 kick off or punt return TD's. (that weren't called back by phantom calls)

Welker had one, anyone care to help me out.

Ginn had a good punt return year average last season.  His kickoff average was very low, but again, he had 96 yard return, an 86 yard return, and a 57 yard return called back by penalties.

We need to use Ginn at the return spot somehow.  Even if he alternates with Booker.

The more important things are:

1) The refs need to stop screwing us
2) People need to block

OJ McDuffie had 2 punt returns for touchdowns in 1993, the only dolphin to ever achieve this feat in a single season.

No dolphin has ever had two kickoff returns for touchdowns in a season.

No dolphin has ever had 2 kickoff/punt returns for TD combined in a single season, except for OJ in 1993.

I can't believe this is even a discussion.  Ginn is the most electric player in this offense and needs to have the ball in his hands to make something happen.  Why would Sparano take 5-6 opportunities away from him per game?
