He's been slipping a lot lately. My question is this: If he's available at #32, do we take him?

I say yes. Although I have zero reason to believe Beck is a failure and I'm all for giving him the whole season to establish himself, you just never can know with quarterbacks. And the talent of a guy like Brohm doesn't come often in the second round. I just don't believe we can afford NOT to take him. Worst case, Beck turns out to be amazing and we have Brohm riding the pine. I could live with that 

Disregarding my recent Madden comments, I'm a big believer in stats. No, they shouldn't be the sole  measure of a player - not even the major measure - and you have to know which stats are important and which aren't. With regards to college quarterbacks, what (statistically) translates into success at the pro level is: Completion ratio and games started. The more the better.

By that yard stick, Brohm looks like a better NFL quarterback than Matt Ryan. More games started and significantly better completion ratio. Ryan's completion ratio also declined each year and his interceptions sky rocketed. Sure, he passed A LOT more, but his touchdowns didn't increase nearly as much. Anyway, all the *stats* point to Brohm making the better transition to the pro level.

Brohm was widely regarded as a surefire first round pick LAST year. What the heck has changed?

Agreed.  Louisville was a much better team in 2006 with Bobby Petrino at the helm.  If they hadn't slipped up against Rutgers at the end of the game, they would've played for the national title

I'm undecided if they should take him if he is available.  I guess it would depend upon who they have already taken and who else is available.  If he is the best player available then, I say take him.

I would take him.... but at #57, not #32.  Either him or Joe Flacco, whichever one is available.

The scouts don't give a crap about stats. They are important but you don't truly evaluate a QB on stats. You have to actually do homework than look at game logs.

What the heck changed? Lack of demand in the NFL now for a QB, even more. After Minnesota at 17, no team has a glaring need at QB. And other than the Ravens and Bears, no team in the NFL has a glaring need for a QB. Maybe Minnesota but it all depends if Childress thinks Jackson can be their guy.

If Brohm is there at #32 and the dolphins pass him up, they should all be drug tested. Brohm is better than Matt Ryan and way more accurate. This guy puts the ball where the WR can do something with it. I wacthed alot of U of L games over the last 2 seasons and Brohm's WR's never break stride when he delivers the ball.

What happened to brohm was that sorry coach they brought in from tulsa and Louisville's defense couldn't stop anyone last season. I can't beleive he could actually slip until the second round. Brohm is a flat out steal in round 2. He will be better that Matt Ryan.

I think the Dolphins should be drug tested if they draft another QB. YOu have QBs and you aren't going to playoffs for the next 2 years at least. Build on your defense and offensive line, which are both absolutely horrendous. You aren't horrendous at QB, it was your OL, WRs, TEs, and RBs that sucked last year.

Tom Brady couldn't win 7games last year on the Dolphins offense.

And...if Andre truly has improved the speed of his release (I've heard rumors but seen no tape), he'll start moving back up the draft board again, as most people feel it was the only "real" knock on the guy.

  Drafting Brian Brohm with a 2nd, 3rd or 4th round pick would be a horrible mistake.  This guy is not going to be a starting QB in the NFL.  He lacks arm strength and has never impressed me at all.  John Beck has alot better chance of being a quality QB in the NFL then Brohm does.  Miami has to many needs to be reaching for an overated QB with a high draft pick.
