Here's a clip from a blog written by the Sun Sentinel's Omar Kelly:

Even though Sparano claimed he likes his tight ends I didn't believe him. I'm trained to read between the lines and his body language spoke volumes. When Sean Ryan, a guy who was out of the league last season, is the tight end you're the most excited about that means you've got issues. And tight end is typically a big part of a Bill Parcells offense.

Coincidentally, Jeremy Shockey is trying to get a new contract out of the Giants. I'm told by my UM sources he really wants OUT, and feels the Dolphins would be a good fit since it's home. The Giants can not get over the fact he doesn't want to train with them in the offseason.

Question to Dolphins nation? Is Shockey, who has four-years left on a five-year contract extension he signed in 2005 (that pays him $25 million) worth the Dolphins second second-round pick. That's what it would take to make the deal happen I'm told?....

One thing's for sure.  Shockey would provide an instant upgrade to our tight end position which hasn't done squat since Randy Mac left town.  But is it worth a second round pick?

I'd love to hear everyone's opinion on this, especially Jtex, our resident Giants fan.

What is wrong with Justin Peelle or is he gone ? I honestly believe the more picks we have the better we can build. I do not want to see Shockey in a dolphins uniform he is not worth a second round. If we get him he will bring his attitude and what happens in a few years when he wants out of Miami If the Giants don't want to pay him they should cut him, he odiously is a distractions in NY, because right after his season ending injury is when the giant jelled more of a team. The SuperBowl was Shockey free.

yeah, he's a major cancer, and if a tough guy like coughlin can't contain him, i don't see sparano or parcells being able to either.

Correct me if I'm wrong.  But, isn't Jeremy Shockey the guy who called our current VP of Football Operations, Bill Parcells a "homo?"

Yeah and how did that work out? He  softened his stance this year, especially concerning how he trated his veterans, and guess what the pulled it off. But he it was only because Tiki and Shockey were not on the field. Give me a break.

I dont know if I would give up a second round pick, but I would love to see this guy in a Dolphins uniform.  We could use a playmaking Tight End, that brings some needed fire and passion to this team.

This is one of those rumours and what ifs tossed about this time of year that is of no more substance than smoke and mist. Be that as it may, Shockey is a great physical talent, and sometimes young men with bad attitudes grow up and act more mature. If the price was somehow right, a man of his ability could be a great addition. It isn't going to happen, but it is fun to think about these things when nothing else is going on in pro football.

There seems to be a trend in Miami.  We sign these players who once experienced glory with their former teams which then come to Miami and return to their rookie forms. Eventually they find themselves injured watching gleefully from the sidelines.  Shockey would follow this trend and fans continue to whine some more.

I like Jeremy Shockey, but he's not worth the picks we'd be giving up.  Nobody is.

Let's face it, we need a whole new team..

As much as i would like to see J. Shockey im Aqua,   I dont feel that Miami needs his baggage.   I rather have Justin Peele  develop into a star.

Justin Peele becoming a star TE in this league is about as likely as Paris Hilton calling you up and inviting you over for a private skinny dipping party.
