Ther eis going to be a live action movie released next summer of G.I. Joe. I had heard they were going to make one, but didn't realize it was actually in the works. Yahoo had a slide show showing some of the actors...

http://movies.yahoo.com/slideshows/generic/gijoe.html

Here's a quick rundown:
Rachel Nichols plays Scarlett
Ray Park plays Snake Eyes
Channing Tatum play Duke
Sienna Miller plays the Baroness
Dennis Quaid plays General Hawk
Joseph Gordon Levitt plays Cobra Commander
Marlon Wayans plays Ripcord
Arnold Vosloo plays Zartan
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje plays Heavy Duty
Karolina Kurkova plays Cover Girl

Some thoughts:
Ray Park is the same guy who played Darth Maul in Phantom Menace, and Toad in X-Men. Seeing as Snake Eyes is a ninja and should move as one, I think this is great casting.

Dennis Quaid has a good look to play General Hawk.

Joseph Gordon Levitt? Seriosuly? This is the guy who was the kid on 3rd Rock from the Sun. He's going to be the leader of Cobra? I think they could've done a better casting. I'll try to think of some names...

edited to add: What about Mads Mikkelson who played Le Chiffre in Casino Royale?

Why wasn't Marlon Wayans cast as Stalker, since I recall he was a more major character. He also looks similar to Stalker.

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Heavy Duty is an awesome casting! AAA was Mr. Ecko on LOST, and I always thought he was a great actor. Unfortunately, he wanted to be written out of LOST to go back to England. He was feeling very homesick after both of his parents passed away. His character was suppossed to have a large role in the culmination of the storyline, but he asked to be killed off.

Some other cast members (according to IMDB):
Christopher Eccleston as Destro
Said Taghmaoui as Breaker
Byung-hun Lee as Storm Shadow

And two rumors:
Dwayne Johnson as Shipwreck
Brendan Fraser as Gung Ho

edited to add: Superherohype.com says that Fraser already shot his role, which is just a cameo appearance. A few people on the message boards there feel that the two shoudl be reversed in their roles, and after thinkign about it, it did make sense- Johnson as Gung-Ho and Fraser as Shipwreck seems to be better fits.

Man, I was a little kid last time I watched anything G.I. Joe!!!  I remember how awesome the toys were.  But as for the story I don't remember much.  Just G.I. Joe fighting Cobra.
