Wow. IGN gives it a 10. That score hasn't happened in almost 10 years:

It looks like this game is going to topple Halo 3 as the top-seller of all time.

I'll be picking my copy up on Tuesday. I will not shave, shower, or leave the house until this game has been defeated. I already have a commode placed strategically infront of the T.V. So, who's coming over? Bring some food and water with you.

bump from 5 years ago.  Do I win the ultimate Grave digger award?

I have seen some videos on YouTube showing the different multiplayer game modes that this game has and I never realized how fun it could be.  Does anyone have this game (on XBOX360), and would be interested in playing some online multiplayer sometime?  The "Cops and Crooks" mode looks particularly fun...

I bought the game, played it for a half hour, and never touched it again.  I don't know why I never got into it....maybe because I thought it was just more of the same, and I had spent so much time on the previous ones.  I remember playing GTA 1 & 2 in high school when they first came out...good times.

I believe we are friends on xbox already....I'm down.

^^ yes, we are.  Sounds good.  I did about the same.  I played through about 3 or 4 of the beginning missions and then gave up.  I thought the map was too big and confusing.  With Vice City and San Andreas, a few hours of playing and I kinda knew the map.  Not this one.

If we can get at least 6 people in for Cops and Crooks, it would be fine.  Can probably do it with 4, but 8 might be the max.

Brian, the most fun to have online is the co-op missions.  They have some co-op bank robbery stuff that is pretty fun.  I'm down if you ever want to play.

I definitely want to play.  I am going to try to work through the single-player mode to get a handle on the controls again.  Watching the videos on youtube made me think i didn't give it a fair shot.

I have been playing thru the single player missions. I'm amazed at the attention to detail in the animations. I don't know why I put this game down. This has been fun to pick it back up now. Can't wait to play some multiplayer.

I've heard there is some new DLC pack for the game that adds new features. Gotta try to find that too.

^ I have bought and played both DLC packs (and I normally don't do that.)

There was a sale for each one for $5.  It added, I believe, 15 hours of new missions and characters.

Basically, a bunch of stories come together that involve a jewel heist at a museum.  You play 3 different sides of that same interaction.

The regular game plays a European dude trying to make the American dream and realizing that it isn't all its cracked up to be.
The first DLC has you playing a tattooed motorcycle gang member that is forced to lead when the head of the gang goes to prison.
The second DLC has you playing a black dude that works for a gay nightclub owner as his muscle.

Wait - so the DLC basically restores the game as a completely new game in the same environment?

Brilliant.  I love that idea!

Right now I'm playing the standard one that came with it.  I may get the DLC later on.  I didn't know it was that expansive.

^ Yeah, the DLC lets you continue playing in the city, but as a new character, with new missions, and in new areas.  It's a separate story.  So, the motorcycle gang introduces motorcycles, but they're also integral to the gameplay.  You roll with a gang.

And as the biker guy, you'll cross paths with Niko (from a previous mission you did in the regular game).

^ And each DLC pack introduces its own multiplayer modes, as well.
