They always have good young talent,it's just a shame whenever i see any highlights, they are playing in an almost empty stadium. When is south Florida gonna come out and support these guys?

In about 10 years when all of S.FL's children whose parents haven't turned 'em into either Yankees or Red Sox fans and let them grow up having learned to support their home team. Coupled with a few competitive/winning seasons, our boys could see the ball park a little more than half full!  Grin

That new stadium might draw crowds for a year, maybe two, but if they keep up this type of management regarding player personnel, they'll never draw an adequate fan base.

The problem is that the good young talent will be gone in a couple years because management doesn't care about paying the talent.

Brian and I will go to 8-10 games this season (can't remember how many games we bought tickets for)

You  guys ask the same question year after year. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

1.  Stadium issues

2. The management isnt   bad at all.  In fact the Marlins have one of the best management teams.  Who else in baseball can clean slate a team every 3 yrs to bring up more talent and keep payroll down.   Once the Marlins get their own Home field things will be much  more different.

3. Blame  Uncle Wayne for putting too much on his plate when he tried to own every major sport franchise in S. Fla.

4.  Fan base is still quite young in S Fla.   you guys have realize that the Marling are only 15 yrs old.  Most ppl in S. Fla  grew up watching  the Yankees, Braves,  Pirates..   e.g.  My dad grew up a  Braves fan and he did not jump ship like I did when the Marlins Moved in.

5.   there are hell of a lot more thing i want to add but who cares anyways Huh Roll Eyes

The Florida Marlins are the reason we invaded Iraq.

They were looking for cheaper stadium solutions.

A - the new stadium won't draw more fans.  It will draw less fans because the location sucks.

B - the TV view is misleading.  Even if they draw 30,000, the stadium looks empty because its a 78,000-seat stadium and only about half of the stadium is even available for sale.

C - People just don't like baseball down here, and the ones that do like the Yankees, Cubs, or Red Sox.  No one cares.

SportsChick and I went to a game a few weeks ago and were amazed at the amount of people sitting around us NOT watching the game.  They were there to drink, take pictures of each other, play grab-ass with their friends, do the wave, etc.  They show up in the 4th inning, stand around for 20 minutes trying to figure out which seat is theirs, then get up every 5 minutes to go buy more vodka-tonics.  It is annoying, my baseball-going experience is very much declined because of these people.

^^Generally speaking - this is avoided in the more expensive seats.

This happens everywhere, Brian.  A quarter of the people at Red Sox games are more interested in calling of their friends to say "hey, I'm at a Sox game.  What are YOU doing?"

But it's a choice, spend less, go to 8-10 games or spend more and go to 2-3. Personally, more baseball makes me happier.

I am with you, S_C.  I love me some baseball.  I generally find that minor league ball is the place to spend the bucks.  It's a better family atmosphere, people are nicer.  Crowds are smaller.

When I am opening my wallet, and have my choice, I would take Hadlock Stadium over Fenway every day of the week and twice on Sundays.

I love me some minor league ball.  I bet Brian would love it, too.

I am regretting buying all those tickets up front.   Now that I've spent 2 games in "the tank" I am with Maine - I wish I had at least moved over to the outfield or bullpen seats.

I had a partial season in section 110 (for those of you who know where that is) right on the fence next to left field.  Those were the best seats I've ever sat in, all considered, IMO.
