Cheerleaders and players are not allowed to date.  If they do, the cheerleader gets fired, but the player gets to keep his job.

How is that not sex discrimination?

That's more "contractual discretion" than it is "sexual discrimination," imo...

This from the guy who cracks a "dumb blonde" joke.  Roll Eyes

My sister and several of my friends were professional cheerleaders when the Cardinals were still in St Louis.  It was part of their contract and understood between the players and the cheerleaders that they were not to mingle.  They were all professionals and it was never a problem.

I am a blondist not sexist.  (there is a difference)  Smiley

Seriously, I will make sexist joke, racist joke etc. (cause sometimes they are funny)  But I won't deny someone a job or fire someone on account of gender, race or hair color.  There is a difference.

because players bring in money for the team, the best players make a difference on the field and get paid millions.  the cheerleaders are a side show and are a dime a dozen.  You can find 400 girls at any given moment that can dance during timeouts.

I don;t get the policy personally. It's not like dating within the office. How much are the cheerleaders around the players anyway. I don;t see it as much of a distraction.

It's very simple.

Nowhere in the players' contracts does it say whom they may or may not date.  In contrast, the cheerleaders are specifically forbidden from dating players.

That's not sexism; that's one employee negotiating better terms of employment than another.

The cheerleaders need a union.  Ethrust claims that the players get the shaft.  Cheerleader make next to nothing and have to put up with a lot.

Back in the 80's, those I knew made $30 a game and did a lot of personal appearances for free.  They worked very hard because it was something they enjoyed.  You are not going to get a untion out of women who do this as a hobby and not as a profession.

Plus how many of them are using the exposure to advance their modeling, acting, broadcasting careers? Plus I am sure their are a few who try and hook a well off man do to the coverage.

None of the women that I knew, which was most of them.  This is St Louis, not LA.

I'm sorry. As a player, I'm not blind. I would find a way to date one especially if there was magic in the air. There are a lot of discreet places you could meet.

The last time I hooked up with some NFL Cheerleaders, denver_bronco tried to come out here and scoop them up. They said, "no denver_bronco, you gotta go through ethurst2". If you wanna be the man, you got to have the substance of the man...WOO!!

I think it's crazy that they can't date.

This isn't about players getting the shaft, it's about the cheerleaders NOT getting the shaft that they want...
