For once, I have to say that this was a good post out of you. And yes, I agree 100%, if you trade your own life so that other lives can be saved, you definitely are a hero.

Reminds me of the late Joe Delaney, the Kansas City Chief running back which was a precursor to Barry Sanders, risking his life to save someone else. My respect goes out to Marquise.

One was murdered during the season. The other fell off a jet ski during the off-season.
Delaney dove into a pond and tried to save three children who were screaming for help. He was an inexperienced swimmer, but he reacted in his unselfish fashion.
Thanks run_to_win for the update. I forgot that Mr. Delaney was trying to save some children. He was a heck of a running back.

Regaurdless of this mans death or the team he played for I salute him and his family for the great sacrifice of protecting our country.
Absolutely! Any jet skiing, ex-football playing, protector of our country should be awarded with our respect.
