Last Memorial day (5/28/07) New England Patriots defensive end Marquise Hill, 91 died while saving the life of his jet skiing companion Ashley Blazio, after they both fell off the jet ski.

Hill's death did not receive nearly the attention as Sean Taylor.

But when we speak of sports heros, can on really be more of hero than to lay down ones own life to save another's.

R.I.P.

Hoodie,

For once, I have to say that this was a good post out of you.  And yes, I agree 100%, if you trade your own life so that other lives can be saved, you definitely are a hero.

Not to crap of the memory of a dead guy, but this story is somewhat embellished.

They fell off their jet ski in the middle of nowhere, and he drowned.  He didn't sacrifice himself to save her, but instead "helped her remain calm" until she grabbed on to a buoy.  She credits him with helping her not panic.

Still a good deed -- don't want to take a shot at the guy, but it's not like he laid down his life for her.

Believe it or not, the Pats are actually my 2nd favorite team in the league.  Lately, I've been a hater, but I usually pull for them to win, once the Dolphins are eliminated.

I like Boston sports -- Red Sox and Celtics, specifically.

Regaurdless of this mans death or the team he played for I salute him and his family for the great sacrifice of protecting our country.

Reminds me of the late Joe Delaney, the Kansas City Chief running back which was a precursor to Barry Sanders, risking his life to save someone else. My respect goes out to Marquise.

Hill's death did not receive nearly the attention as Sean Taylor.
One was murdered during the season.  The other fell off a jet ski during the off-season.

Delaney dove into a pond and tried to save three children who were screaming for help.  He was an inexperienced swimmer, but he reacted in his unselfish fashion.

Thanks run_to_win for the update. I forgot that Mr. Delaney was trying to save some children.

He was a heck of a running back.

Absolutely! Any jet skiing, ex-football playing, protector of our country should be awarded with our respect.

It's called a life jacket.  Keeps you from drowning.
