This is a proposed intersection reconstruction they are planning here...I kind of find this stuff intresting...

According to this article it's not been done yet here in the U.S.

What do you think?

confusing, good engineering, ior is the DOT just trying to get creative?

I hope this works...

I think your city engineers are doing better drugs than I am...

Looks like it'd be fun to do at high speed in thick traffic. Pucker factor of 12 and a 3 banzai! minimum.

Providing the actual criss-cross doesn't add a delay (and it shouldn't, there's already a traffic light there), it seems quite reasonable and should be a bit quicker.

An interesting way to get around storage.  A traffic count determnes lengths of storage and then safety factors determine what happens after that.  This eliminates all of that but opens itself to other issues.

I don't know that it will actually make things quicker or even easier.  Instead of having just the turn lanes cross traffic they have every single car that goes through the intersection crossing traffic. Once someone screws up and blocks the intersection it will shut every thing else down. If this happens at both intersectins at the same time it could get seriously ugly.

Right now, just to the North of this there is a stop light, just to the South there is a stop light, then like 250 ft farther to the south another stop light in front of the walmart supercenter.....It's already ugly...

It looks pretty cool to me.  My only concern would be that it's not intuitive to drivers unfamiliar with the area.

Two lane turning is unfamiliar here.... Roll Eyes It justy got big here about 5-6 years ago...and they are making more, and more intersctions that way...and people still are having problems figuring it out....
