Ladies and boys, this needs to be said:

Stop antagonizing people.  Walk away.  Just because you CAN reply to something doesn't mean that you have to.

Lookit, this is a message board.  We're here to have open and frank discussions.  But the fact of the matter is that there are some massive personality conflicts on this board.  There are some of you that simply don't like others.  You know who you are.  It's fine, we don't all need to like each other.  But it's very immature to specifically seek out someone's post just so you can start a fight.  If you're clicking on a post with a preconceived notion that whatever the person said is b.s. before you've even read it...why are you clicking on that thread in the first place?

Frankly I'm tired of good discussions being locked.  Lately it's happening way too often.

This is a simple concept:  If there is a program on television that you don't like, you wouldn't sit through it anyway and then write a letter of complaint to the television station.  You would simply not watch it.  If you're listening to the radio and a song comes on that you hate you would turn to another station.  You wouldn't pick up a book that you have no interest in reading.

In that line of thinking, why are you clicking on a thread that has been started by someone that you don't like, respect or really listen to?  I almost feel like we're in grade school here when I say this - but this lesson stands true today.  Person 'a' needs to go play on the swings and let person 'b' play on the slide.

Walk away from each other.  I, for one, am really tired of clicking on to what would have been normal discussion and seeing pissing matches.  Take it to a PM discussion or something, anything, but stop making the rest of us suffer.

Thank you Maine. Great post.

It's only been three days since I was questioning all of the aggressive posting and we've already had 4 threads locked because of personal attacks.  Obviously some people have a hard time of recognizing this as a fault.

Jeff and I are discussing this off line.  It comes down to this anaolgy for me:

I view a lot of these discussions like you would a good fight.  In a good fight you need to expect to see broken noses, split lips.  That is good flesh on flesh fighting done the old fashioned way with a bag full of knuckles.

What I am seeing far too often for my personal taste is when someone says "screw the fists" and pulls a gun.

I love a good (and clean) fight.  I have gotten into my share of scuffles on this board.  Certain things cross the line, however.  It's one thing to click on a thread and put up your dukes.  Wading into the fight with a stance and well thought out responses.  However it's another altogether when you're loading up your 9mm, putting it on auto and wading in with the sole purpose of causing as much damage as you can without regard to the content of the thread.

Hence my point.  Fight fair and keep it above the waist.

I'm all for a good little give and take myself. But when we have possibly a certified 5150 on our hands here I think the people here have a right to know about it. Believe me when I tell you that PM was only one of several disturbing messages from that individual. I felt it was time to share.  Looking forward to training camp and a friendly heads up to his next Pen Pal.
