Good point. Locked for veering off course.

Is this like a punishment or a game?   Or is this supposed to be a discussion page and hopefully a conversation?  six pages of dialog.........nobody is making any personal attacks, The Topic is in the Dolphins Discussion forum, we are in the Dolphins Forum and because the content switched from what the title was you lock up the thread like some kind of punishment. I can see if we switched to something like Superman vs the Hulk of something that belongs in another forum, but as long as the content matches the forum you are in WTF?

Why should we even take the time to seriously make posts if you have such a heavy locking hand? I'm sorry.........I gotta call bullshit on this one.  The thread drifted to another player but I was being respectful, as was my opponent and Now we are both stuck with unanswered questions because you decided the content now didn't match the thread title.   How TF is that a way to hold a conversation!?

I rarely question another mod's locking criteria, ok...never to this point, but locking a thread about Ginn's draft-worthiness because there was too much talk about Brady Quinn?  Whether people like it or not, the two will always be tied together in the draft discussion, due to common expectations from both fans and media.

I do not get it either.   The Ginn/Quinn discussion was very entertaining for the off season.  It was about the Miami Dolphins and there decisions about the draft from the previous season.  No personal attacks or insults, just dol-fans talking about bad decisions made by the prior coaching staff.

I'll jump in really quick on this one:  I see everyone's point but will agree with the nature of locking it.

I am sure 'Stroke understands as a moderator himself, sometimes we have to snap shot threads to make sure everyone is playing fair on and on topic.  We simply don't have time to read every individual post.

If someone new to the site click on the thread and went directly to the most recent posts they would be confused...'this isn't what I thought I was clicking on.'  It isn't a punishment, it's just not what it should be anymore.

Just because a thread is locked doesn't mean it was a bad thread, it simply lived out it's life cycle.  At that point a new thread should be born from the one that was locked.  It's up to the people that had a good conversation going in the dead thread to start a brand new one based upon the new conversation.

I respect your comments, but now we have to live here by what a newbie might or might not see?  How is that a way to hold a conversation? That thread was barely dead. It was getting responses every hour on the hour. All of it well thought out , respectful view points. That's why I come here..........Not to fight or piss off other people, but to actually get into a debate with someone else and maybe learn something new about a perspective I might not have thought about .

You can see the last week I had here with Buddagirl and Vegas. That was NOT my idea of fun. In fact I'm giving the off Topic forum a bit of a break.  But when I can't even discuss the Miami Dolphins in the Miami Dolphins forum.......WTF are we here? That other stuff never bothered me. But  I was truly enjoying that thread and this is the most frustrated I've ever been since I joined here.

It was a thread that was about Ted Ginn Jr.  Then for whatever reason, it veered off into a discussion about a guy who isn't even on our team.

Call bullshit all you want.

The initial post of the thread discussed whether or not Ginn was worse than players taken at #9 in the previous 9 drafts.

So conversations do not have the leeway to evolve any more? Tell the truth is this a personal opinion or an unbiased one like a good moderator is supposed to have?

The very reason Ginn is up for worst pick is not because of his playing abilities. Its because he was taken at a spot where other needs where clearly more needed. Quinn was the Best shot Miami had at getting a Franchise QB at that time. Something we may or may not have addressed a year later.

I'm not trying to be difficuly here , but Can you please tell me again how this not only has nothing to do with the original thread title............but why did it warrant a thread closing?  If its personal Bias fine. Please let us all know so we won't spend so much time wasting in this forum.

You really should butt out. All you are good for here is Copying and pasting from other other publications here. Its cool that you do that and I appricate the news, but RARELY do I ever ever see you even offer any opinions on the threads you start.

I disagree with the locking & being a Mod at another Miami website I would not have even thought about locking the thread.   Probably would have made a post about getting back to the topic, but in this situation the topic & whom was not drafted are like two peas in a pod.  They will always be together.  Its not like the topic was now how to make a good cherry pie.

I would think as a website you would want active threads & want people coming to the site, but its whomever website & they can run it however they want too.

Its my choice & others to either live with it or no longer visit & find a Miami website to post that wants posters to get into discussions without personal attacks.

The comment that it would confuse a new person is not something I find accurate.   The one thing I found when I was originally searching for a boards was activity.  Active boards brought me in & made me want to join, dead boards meant I left to find another place.

When a new person shows up & find only a couple of post in the last 8 Hours then the likely hood of them joining is vastly reduced.

If you do not like that way this site is policed then find another site.

Just my opinion.

I gotta say sometimes your opinons really didn't agree with me, but your posts are always well thought out , intelligent and I actually have learned from alot of them. Its a shame that this is what this place is coming to.

Dphins4me and D5499 - not to take a company man stance here, but we're adults.  The conversation didn't veer off 'a little' - it went full board off course.  The moderator made a decision that it was off topic and locked it.

Is it that hard to start a new thread about the new conversation?  Seriously?  Seems that more effort and energy is being wasted pissing and moaning about a thread that lived out it's life expectancy.  It's not personal.  It's not a punishment.

This isn't the great drama that it's being portrayed to be.  It isn't a big deal.  You start a new conversation based upon the new conversation topic.  Otherwise there would be three threads with 9,875 replies each. Dphins4me, if you're a mod on another site you should understand this more than anyone.

Move on.  Start a new conversation. Relax.  We're not curing cancer here guys, we're just talking football.

All the thread was doing was going around and around about Brady Quinn.  Someone had to put a stop to it.

Someone please lock this thread too!

Modified to add:  I enjoy 619's posts.  They are very informative and I read all of them.  I don't often comment on them, but a good post is not defined by how many comments it gets.
