Defense5499- it has nothing to do with "personal bias". See my explanation below. If you disagree with it, sorry. And thwhat ere is no need to tell another member to "but out" and tell them they are only good for copying and pasting. It really makes you look like a little kid.

Dphins4me- I understand you are a mod at another board. You have reminded me of that quite often. And as a mod, you realize that sometimes threads need to be locked. Look at half of your posts on the last two pages of that thread and tell me that was a productive thread.

When the thread evolved into 2 pages of back and forth between two members, and most of the posts were "thats your opinion, and its stupid",  "what do you know", "my opinion is right" I feel a thread has run its course.

We encourage EVERYONE to post here.

But seriously guys, start a new thread and discuss "I still think the Fins should have Drafted Quinn over Ginn"

Out of respect for the Forum and the good people here I'll STFU now. I made my point. But to be honest its gonna be hard to answer honestly and with as much thought as I would usually put in a post from now on because what good is it if someone is just gonna come along and Lock it up based on the Opinion of the content and not the content itself.

What I need to do is step away from the way I usually handle things in a day to day basis and realize this isn't my house.  I am a problem solver and deal with many different issues daily . I always try to step back and never take a personal stance when Moderating a issue.  I guess by thinking that should be the way everywhere else is wrong.   there is no right or wrong , I'm a guest here and I won't say another thing about it.

Dphins4me and D5499 - not to take a company man stance here, but we're adults.  The conversation didn't veer off 'a little' - it went full board off course.  The moderator made a decision that it was off topic and locked it.

Is it that hard to start a new thread about the new conversation?  Seriously?  Seems that more effort and energy is being wasted pissing and moaning about a thread that lived out it's life expectancy.  It's not personal.  It's not a punishment.

This isn't the great drama that it's being portrayed to be.  It isn't a big deal.  You start a new conversation based upon the new conversation topic.  Otherwise there would be three threads with 9,875 replies each. Dphins4me, if you're a mod on another site you should understand this more than anyone.

Move on.  Start a new conversation. Relax.  We're not curing cancer here guys, we're just talking football.
Maine I'm not upset.  Its your job & you can police the site however you choose.  If it too much for me then I'll leave.  That is how things work in the free world.

You are offering this site to us to enjoy & we can choose to enjoy it or find another one that is ran the way we like it.

Its no biggie.  If I never show back up then you will known why.

I'm a mod at Phizmania & this would not have been locked there.

Why don't we just go back and forth about it until everyone else gets tired of reading it and someone else locks it?  Cheesy Wink

I understand you made a decision. I'm not gripping about it.  Matter of fact if you read my post the way it is written, I am supporting you.

Its not one I would have made & I'm not the least bit upset.  I've never locked a thread for getting off topic.  Personal attacks is about the only reason & that is after being warned.

You run this site however you see fit.  As I've said, the member have the power. Its like with FH.  I did not like the way they ran the site, so I left the site. Members can complain & still come here or they can choose to leave.  I am not complaining.

Also being a Vet of Message Board life know that when threads get long they generally get off topic.

As for being productive thread.  It was not a thread of personal attacks.  Sure it got long in the tooth, but it is the offseason & was the only active thread in the Dolphins folder.

I'm cool, so please do not take this as I'm upset.  I support your decision, don't agree, but I do support it. Now I have a decision to make or at least one to make note of.

The mod made the right choice, it started to veer way off course. The article was about Ginn and became something else. It is pretty simple start a new topic, Quinn Vs Ginn , dont sound  too difficult.

I disagree with the locking & being a Mod at another Miami website I would not have even thought about locking the thread.

I agree here as well.  While the conversation drifted slightly off topic, it was centered around someone else who should have come instead of who the topic was about.  I'm also a mod at another message board, and I would not have locked that thread as it presently stands.

I would, but then people would complain about it  Wink

Nothing personal, Philly, but you have been pretty quick in the past to lock threads.  If that's your style of moderating a board, fine.  Some of those threads I would not have thought of locking.

Look guys.

It's Philly's job to use his judgment about what threads are too off course and we can't bust his balls every time he locks one.  It's a job that he's volunteering to do, and it's not to punish anyone.  He's trying to make the board better.

I may not always handle things the same way as the other mods, but I certainly support their decisions, and Philly has a track record of good work.  If you want to continue the convo, start another one that's more in that direction of where the thread went.  That's really all you can do.

Calling out the mods just causes more bullshit.
