I shouldn't even be responding to this comment.  Are you saying that you need to be from a big school to be successful?  He definitely has a ways to go, I never said you have to start fitting him for his Canton jacket or anything...........but he not going to be bounced out working in home depo either in a few years either.

No, but there has been a history of qb's coming out of weak defensive conferences who racked up amazing stats in 5 reciever sets bombing in the NFL. Hawaii had to go to triple overtime against shitty teams. He played one good defensive team and got shut down. Hell he did not look great against UW and they sucked.
Maybe he will be the one who breaks the cycle of spread qb's from small weak conferences, but I doubt it. He could have probably been picked up in the 7th or even after the draft as he stock plummeted after the Georgia game.

I don't get that.  Huh  He probably could have went in the 3rd as well?? Huh He went in the 6th. I'm amazed he went that far , you think he should have went lower. But don't make shit up.

This was printed just Yesterday in his second appearance:

Colt impresses again: 2-minute drill TD
August 16, 2008 · 6 Comments
Colt impresses again:  4 plays, 80 yards, 1:09 minute drive at the end of the game.  Colt’s TD pass to Jason Goode was the Redskins broadcast’s drive of the game.  After Colt’s TD drive, broadcaster (and former QB) Joe Theismann said of Brennan:  “He has it.  Brett Favre has it with capital letters - he’s got the big it.  Colt Brennan just finds a way to get it undone.”

For the night, Colt went 4-5 / 79 yards with the game-winning TD.  A late-game botched FG prevented Colt from taking the field again in OT.

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again:  this is only preseason.  Colt will learn more and more as the year continues.  But Colt fans have plenty to be happy about.

I don't know much about Colt but I do know something about late 4th quarter during the second pre season game of the season.

The guys on defense that Colt was playing against will be working at UPS and Burger King again after next week.

I will be very interested to see what Colt does in the 4th quarter with 1:09 left in the regular season against a real defense.

Say what you want........He is NOT failing like everyone predicted. Quite the opposite is my only point.

Colt Brennan's early success isn't all that surprising.  A lot of people looked at him as a West Coast QB. lo and behold that's the type of offensive system Zorn runs in Washington.  Colt is in an offense that suits his particular skill sets.

I had the unfortunate pleasure of living on the west coast and having his games broadcast every week. He looked great against horrendous teams with a 5 reciever set. He is not a true west coast offense guy, he is just another product of the June Jones "spread em out and fling it 50+ times) system. He had all the hype based on numbers but the big knock was he never faced a real defense. He barely lead his team past a bad UW team, had to go to triple overtime to beat crappy teams, and then got throttled by a good, not great defense in Georgia. What did he accomplish that justifies going higher than 6th or 7th?

Looks like the Skins had a rough go of it last night:

Overall, the Skins were blown-out 47-3.  Colt played the entire 4th quarter, and no other quarterback aside from Collins and Campbell were used.  Next week, the final pre-season game, Colt may get less playing time but has pretty much solidified his spot as the 3rd string quarterback.

Its not official and I'm not saying he's the second coming of Dan Marino.

But for those that said he would be working out of the NFL this season you were sadly mistaken. A 6th rounder for a solid 3rd stringer who could develop was an excellent pick for the skins.

Dude, really?  The dude might make the TEAM and you're breathing "Marino" in the same sentence?  You're really stretching here.  The 3rd string?  Once the season starts he won't see the light of day in a game.

I think you better get some hooked on phonics bro if you think I was comparing him to Marino at all. And weather or not he gets playing time is not the question. Several here stated he should not have been drafted at all and he will wash out and not even be in the NFL next season. He has had an excellent Pre Season for a rookie and for a 6th round pick was IMO incredible value.

I have nothing against Colt and I wish him well, but I asked this question before with no answers. We drafted Parmele and Thomas in the sixth round, it looks like Thomas is a lock as a starter on the offensive line and Parmele looks like he will win a job with playing time for Miami. So my question was why would you want to give up a player who will contribute to this team compared to a 3rd string QB who's only contribution would be to hold a clipboard, so who would you have not drafted?

I think Colt will be a good field general and he seems to make efficient throws...it is only preseason so a solid opinion can't really be made...I don't think he would have been a good fit in Miami but I do think he'll be a solid (not great...more along the lines of a Garrard) QB in the NFL...he has looked impressive as a rookie but I'll say it again...not a good fit for the Phins...we are better off with Thomas and Parmale.

Read back to the first post. I NEVER said Miami should have drafted him. At the time I was saying Colt would be a great pick in the later rounds was before the draft and no one knew if Parcells was even going to pick a QB early on. So if they didn't get Chad Henne early on and Colt was still available in the 6th I thought he was a No brain er while others here stated he was not even going to make a Team.

I followed his Pre season and I would have manned up if he sunk like a lead Balloon.  But I think he did excellent. And I just wish the Nay Sayers would Man Up as well and admit Colt was No Fluke in Hawaii. The Kid has some skills.......

The title of the thread is "for those that laughed when I said we should draft Colt Brennan" and now you are saying you didn't say that?  We won't know if he has skills or not until he plays in a real game.
