At least they didn't fold the tents like the Red Sox did like little girls down the stretch in '06.
How about that classless celebration the Red Sox put on the other night when they clinched a playoff spot....they acted like they won the world series for the first time in 80 some years...or maybe they were just relieved because the AAA NY Yanks were closing in on them fast!! Wink

Congrats Az fin fan and Joe Torre on a great year and good luck in the playoffs!!!!

Ah, yes.  Make sure you leave out the Yankees horrific tent folding job in the 2002 and 2003 World Series along with their suck ass job in the 2004 ALCS and horrific performaces in the ALDS in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Good success pattern there, pal.  Meanwhile Boston will sit back and admire their rings from '04 and '07.

Blah blah blah, hater, hater, hater, blah, blah, blah, two hundred million dollars down the drain, blah blah, Carl Pavano, blah, blah, blah, blah.  This uncorked bottle of bubbly is for you!

or maybe they were just relieved because the AAA NY Yanks were closing in on them fast!! Wink

They were, eh?  Three weeks ago they were eight games off the pace in the wild card.  Last week they were seven games off the pace.  This week they are...gasp...seven games off the pace.  Yeah, that's closing REAL fast.

And in closing I would like to add blah blah blah, yada yada yada.

Sincerely,

The Defending World Series Champion Boston Red Sox.  If you can't find us we'll be the ones in the playoffs with a chance to repeat while the Yankees sit at home.

Blah blah blah blah.

Let Boston admire all 7 world series they have won (most of which were in the EARLY 1900s) Cheesy ....Meanwhile the New York Yankees and their fans can enjoy all 26 world series they have won  Wink

If you are measuring success by everyone else's standards, then just getting there is an accomplishment. Just because America's team isn't happy with anything but a world series title, doesn't mean they weren't successful in the overall scheme of things. I still see full houses at Yankee stadium when they were playing terrible.

I think how it's great that a team makes it to the playoffs 13 straight years and by the law of averages they finally come up short and you have alot to say............ In the meantime Boston and the Mets are spending this kind of money and they have no consistency like America's team.

Holy crap!  Somehow a thread about the Dodgers turns in to a Boston - New York smackdown.  WTF?

^I have a $100 off coupon for computer software that expired in 2002.  It's about as valuable as memories of winning a title in 1946.  Thanks for playing.

Love,
People that are classless in celebration.

Go Dodgers, by the way!

^I'm not sure what your point was supposed to be there, but the Cardinals have won a few rings since 1946.  Or was that not directed towards me?  I'm old and confuse easily.

I didn't say the fans were classless in celebration, the Red Sox players were running around the field like madmen....Boston won the freaking world series LAST YEAR... they were acting like they NEVER made the post-season before.

That was towards the Yankees fans saying that Boston winning in '04 and '07 doesn't count because they have 46 rings between 1876 and 1954.

I personally think all winning history is important.  Yankee fans, it seems, agree...right up until 2004.

Right.  "Around the field" key phrase.  Did you see the 25,000+ people that stayed?  Players shook hands, went into the crowd - it was for the fans.  Last time I checked only 4 teams make the playoffs, it's a pretty big deal.

Hate to do this - but this thread is way off topic and it's largely my own damn fault.  Nothing inappropriate here, but I have to shut 'er down.
