Are you going to watch it?

I'm not. For a few reasons...1, the last one was boring. 2, my mind is already made up as to who I'm voting for. 3, the next one will likely be boring too.

I'm not going to go out of my way to see it. If there's a MLB playoff game or a cool movie on, I'll watch that instead.

I will - because you never know if something will come out of it.  Why not?  I'll do what I did last night and read the paper at the same time & keep my ears open.

If the Red Sox are on then I would most likely watch the game. You are right this last debate was boring and neither have given me a reason to vote for them. So if the Sox aren't on, maybe.

I will watch.  I watch all of the debates.  I even watch the primaries of parties I know I won't vote for.  I just like to be informed, and I really like the post-debate commentary.  (more than the debates themselves, actually.)

I agree there.

I want to make a comment about Fox News and how much I hate it.  I understand that MSNBC is a liberal spin machine.  But I find Fox to be on a whole new level of unprofessionalism and unfair reporting.  It's not their editorial shows that bother me so much, like O'Reilly.  He's just spouting his opinion, so what can you do?

But at least with MSNBC, their panel reporting is fair.  Their statistics are fair.

The reason I bring this up is this disturbing trend I've been noticing about Fox during these debates:

All of the regular news channels: NBC, CBS, CNN use a somewhat scientific polling procedure to determine the general public's opinion of each debate.  They are transparent to their methods, they say how many Dems, GOP, and Independents are in involved (and it matches the national average, roughly).  They do not "lead" the pollsters.  It's an unbiased reporting of stats.

Obama has polled better than McCain.  (But that's not the point.)  The results have pretty pretty consistent and what you'd expect based on what we're seeing nationally.

However, Fox's poll is totally bogus.  They have a "phone in" poll on their station, so that 1) most people who watch Fox are conservative and more importantly 2) the pundits are all saying how McCain won the debate while they put the number on the screen.

So, in last night's debate, the Fox Poll showed that McCain won the election: 86% and Obama: 12%

Where, the actual, non-biased report was something like Obama 50 something, McCain 38% (something like that).

I don't care whether Obama is winning or losing...that's not the point.  It's just that it pisses me off that it's Fox misleading its viewers.  I would be pissed if MSNBC did the same thing on the liberal side.  It's dishonest reporting.

You can text in as many times as you'd like, your selection pool is one-sided, you're giving them the answers while they're selecting.  It's a terrible way to judge anything.

Even if I was a hardcore conservative, that'd still piss me off.  Don't lie to me about how well my candidate is doing in polls....that's gross.

I watched Fox last night and today as well. They were on McCain's jock after the debate for sure, but the station has done a 180 today and has completely been against the McCain showing last night.

Meh.  Why bother?  The first two were total snoozefests and besides both candidates totally suck.  I'll watch something else or play PS2.

Because I think the media is important and they have a job and responsibility, and parading around as news when you're so clearly not pisses me off.

Anyone find it weird that when Obama talked McCain was wandering around the stage, and when McCain was talking Obama was sitting looking like he was actually paying attention to what his opponent was saying? It just seemed different. I was not the only one who noticed, they did a great bit on the debate on the John Stewart show last night. The part about Obama looking like a soul album cover was hilarious.

I invite you all to watch this clip from Fox news.  It's not even spin.  It's just lying about the news.

It's this guy in a diner of about 20 people in Pennsylvania.  He asks "Raise your hand if you're for McCain."  One guy does.  (This old guy who didn't understand the question, so his wife pulls his arm down.)

"Now raise your hand if you're for Obama."  Everyone in the whole place raises their hand (including the old guy who raised his hand for McCain.

Then the announcer says "It's split....I'd say a little heavier towards Obama at the moment."

What a bunch of horse-shit.
