2011 NFC East Champions!

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/10/12/mccain-says-hell-whip-obamas-you-know-what-at-debate/

Quote
(CNN) — John McCain predicted Sunday he would beat Barack Obama at the final presidential debate this week.

"After I whip his you-know-what in this debate, we're going to be going out 24/7," the Republican nominee told volunteers at his campaign headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, sparking laughter and applause from the group. McCain immediately added: "I want to emphasize again, I respect Senator Obama. We will conduct a respectful race, and we will make sure that everybody else does, too."

Outside the doors of his campaign offices, McCain is fighting to hold on to the traditionally-red state. McCain talked Sunday about the tough fight for Virginia, where Obama currently leads by four points, 49 to 45, in the state's most recent CNN poll of polls. He also pointed to battlegrounds states like Ohio — which Sarah Palin visited Sunday — and Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, and Pennsylvania.

"And I'm telling you, we're coming on and we're going to work 24/7 for the next — who's counting — 22 days," he said.

McCain acknowledged the dip in his poll numbers since the financial crisis began, but said overall trends were in his favor. "…I'd like to give you a little straight talk, we're a couple points down, ok,
nationally, but we're right in this game," he said. "The economy has hurt us a little bit in the last week or two, but in the last few days we've seen it come back up because they want experience, and they want knowledge and they want vision. And we'll give that to America, and I know that we're going to win this race."

This is the problem with fat, white, old, multi-millionaire assholes with multi-millionaire wives. The economy has "hurt us a little bit"? Just a little bit you out of touch asshole? For you, yeah, but for the rest of the 99.9% of people living in this country with nowhere near your amount of money and capital, that "little bit" for you is a fucking DISASTER for the rest of us.

How the hell is that "straight talk"? How the hell is that "being a Maverick"? How the hell can this old asshole continue to downplay our economic status at every opportunity? I thought he stood for "being a Maverick" and "going against the grain". Instead, he continues to regurgetate republican party one-liners, just like our friend GWB.

How many days until November 4?

Disaster?

I'm still eating steak and getting drunk on the weekends, and driving my sports car around with premium fuel in the tank, and I'm not a millionaire. How exactly is it a disaster? Because you're having to pay $18 more a month on gas than you did last year?

If you think living in a country that still has the world's 2nd or 3rd strongest economy is a disaster, your definition of disaster is seriously fucked up.

I think he meant the economy has hurt him in the polls.

No, he said that 99.9% of us are experiencing a disaster. I am not, and I don't think he is either.

The funny thing is that the people who this crisis hurt the most ARE those evil rich people he hates so much.

No, you misunderstood me. I meant that in McCain's quote, he used the words "the economy has hurt us a little bit" while talking about being hurt in the polls.

...you're asking this of people that are posting to an internet message board about an NFL team?

Go to an AARP meeting and see how many people think the economy is just fine.

I'm asking him.  No one else.

No where did I say the economy is just fine.  I ask him how has it actually hurt him.

Also, I agree with Philly Fin Fan.  He was referring to his own polls.

Strange how someone who is obvious rushing to bitch, missed this.

If my personal finances were a disaster I'd probably cut back on my discretionary spending such as internet access.  I probably wouldn't have time to use it much anyway due to my 2nd job and weekend gigs.  But that's just me.

Precisely.  So asking anyone posting to this board if the economy has hurt them badly is somewhat absurd.

It's like asking people at a country club whether they've been badly hurt by high gas prices; if they had, they probably wouldn't be at a country club.

I understand the concept behind McCain's original quote.  That said, I also think it's foolish to think that these problems with the economy won't hit you just because they haven't hit yet.

Three large Maine based companies, all within five miles of my office, just laid off a total of 570 people last week alone.  All completely tied in to the value of that particular company's value taking a beating and an attempt to balance a number on a piece of paper.

Picture it like this.  You live in Houston and the economy is a hurricane coming through the gulf.  It hasn't hit you yet....but it will.

Drive your sports car, eat that steak and live your life.  We shouldn't be paralyzed by fear.  Just keep in mind that a storm is brewin'.

A part of me wants McCain to win just so I can see his and a few others on this forum heads explode right off of their shoulders.

Yes, a storm is brewin & it would be foolish.    The problem is we are listening to the same people who put us here.  Who's to blame is not the problem, since they all are to blame.  How to fix it is the problem.

Inflation is about to explode with all the money the Gov is printing to pay for this.

I hear this a lot, but I don't really agree.  I don't think you can fix any problem unless you understand the causes of it.  Also, I think it's important to hold the appropriate parties responsible, so that we don't continue to elect the same kind of thinking.
