Does anyone respond to car alarms anymore? There has been a car alarm going off for OVER an hour now on what appears to be a 1980s POS. It's just blaring down in the street and no one seems to give a hoot. People are walking by not even giving it a second look! I can hear this thing on the 18th floor. WHAT'S the point of having an alarm these days? Especially in New York city. Has anyone had an alarm actually help them out?? Please enlighten me... Smiley

Unless it's interrupting my sleep, I ignore them.

Since car alarms went off so easily, there were more false alarms than real ones.  By A LOT.  Therefore, probability speaks that if a car alarm is going off, it is most likely a false alarm.  Thus ignored.

I don't think technology is advanced enough to differentiate between theft and a soccer ball hitting the window.

But, insurance companies still give people discounts so people still have them installed.
