Hey guys,

Just a reminder on the rules around here:

Please do not post other people's words without your own discussion.  This especially pertains to controversial subjects like politics or religion.  The reason for this is twofold.  1) I don't want this to be filled with a bunch of copy/pastes from other blogs, and 2) The original words come from someone who isn't on this board to defend them, so it hurts the discussion, which is the point of this board.

If you want to add a link to or an excerpt from the article that you're referencing, while writing your take on a subject, that's acceptable.

I welcome any opinions and ideas (free of hate speech), and like to debate with people I don't agree with.  However, I want to debate with you, not with someone who blogs on another site.

I make an exception for this copy/paste rule when it comes to non-discussion/non-controversial topics, like if you want to post a funny story or interesting factual tidbit.  I also allow for this kind of thing in the Dolphins Discussion, because it's the purpose of this board to inform you about the team, and it helps move the board along in the off-season.

Happy TDMMCing.

Is that the whole board or just this section.  Not right now, but at times the Dolphin discussion section look like an RSS newsfeed?

Exactly. People got pissed when I used to say that whenever a certain poster here posted all those Dolphin Links he would just Copy and Paste and not even leave a sentence as to what his opinion was on the subject. At least attempt to put some of your own words and thoughts on the subject.

So was this why my thread was locked yesterday?

I added my words to it, but was it not enough?

What is the word count I need to meet if it wasn't?

Also, why do you not inform the poster why you locked a thread?  A little info goes a long way in helping people understand things.

I had no & basically still do not know why it was locked other than a mod/owner did not like the topic.

I take this as disrespectful.

I have said multiple times that it is not my personal disagreement with that topic (or any topic) that leads to a lock.  It pisses me off that the mods (including me) volunteer their time to make this place run as smoothly as possible, having to exercise judgment, and they just take shit and get accused of having an agenda.

There is no word count to a post.  If you're only posting a political thread, so that you can copy/paste from someone else's blog or article, don't.  If you want to do that, start a blog.  I don't always catch this kind of stuff, and if a bunch of discussion has already taken place, I let it slide, but if I see it right away, I will shut it down.

Also, I don't always have the time to explain myself (nor should I have to) as to why I lock threads.  Sometimes I will, sometimes I won't.

Hey I'm a mod on another Phins site so you are preaching to the choir & its why I always explain myself to posters, but as long as the discussion is civil I have no problem with how they post.   I cannot help how you wish to take my asking for clarification.  You lock a thread without some much as letting someone know then in this case, it only leads me to guessing as to why.  Maybe I guess incorrect, but again I can only guess since I lacked the knowledge of why.

I was bringing info on a subject discussed on this board.  Would it have been different has I posted it in the previous thread?

As I've told others here before.  You have every right to run this board as good or as poorly as you see fit.  Its your site & I understand that.

Sorry, for asking for clarification.

More threads get locked here for no reason then any other board I visit.  I was just wanting to understand the rules here.   Again sorry for asking for clarification so I can understand the rules.

Hey I'm a mod on another Phins site

I don't know about the site you mod, but at most of the sites I visit, debating of mod policy with the mods will get you banned.

I'm not debating the policy.  As I said prior.  He can run the site however he sees fit.  Its his site.

I was just asking for information on the policy.  I try to follow the rules, but how can you expect someone to follow the policy when you do not let the know if they error.  I was unaware of the reason.

A policy of not providing a detailed explanation every time someone complains  is a policy.  While you may not be debating that thread should or should not be locked, you are still debating policy.  In fact a reason was given why the thread was locked.  You didn't feel it was detailed enough and demanded the mods provide a more detailed explanation of their justification for locking a thread.

It is this specific aspect of the policy that you are debating, "I don't always have the time to explain myself (nor should I have to) as to why I lock threads.  Sometimes I will, sometimes I won't."

So yes, you are debating mod policy.
