CHICAGO (AP) -- Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said Saturday he didn't know his aunt was living in the United States illegally and believes that laws covering the situation should be followed.

The Associated Press found that Obama's aunt had been instructed to leave the country four years ago by an immigration judge who rejected her request for asylum from her native Kenya. The woman, Zeituni Onyango (zay-TUHN on-YANG-oh), is living in public housing in Boston and is the half-sister of Obama's late father.

Nice.   How many other skeltons does this guy have in his closet?

So what??  This is the same as his association with Bill Ayers and Sarah Palin's association with that convicted felon Senator from Alaska...... not going to have much of an impact on the outcome.

The campaign said it was returning $260 that Onyango had contributed in small increments to Obama's presidential bid over several months. Federal election law prohibits foreigners from making political donations. Onyango listed her employer as the Boston Housing Authority and last gave $5 on Sept. 19.

Yawn.  For me this is the same as Joe McCain's 911 call.

I remember reading comparisons from him to JFK.   I don't think any of JFK's relatives were here in this country illegally .  One of my pet Peeves is getting The southern border of this country shored up. How can Barrack Obama do that effectively when his own family is here illegally?

How does that effect decisions McCain might make in office?

This is the kind of Liberal shit that pisses me off:

Quote
In Boston, Lydia Agro, communications director for the Housing Authority, said Onyango had been screened and approved for public housing as an "eligible non-citizen" when she moved in in 2003. She said the authority is not notified of deportation orders and did not know Onyango was related to Obama until two days ago.

Agro said the authority doesn't believe it needs to take any action.

We have People homeless in this country that have lived and payed taxes all their lives , but they approved a eligible NON Citizen!?   They are gonna raise Taxes to pay for more of this shit?

you're looking for reasons to hate Obama?  What does this have to do with his ability to run the country.

He said:
"believes that laws covering the situation should be followed."

He's having his aunt deported?  And you are worried about what?

Both have a relative that violated the law.

Obama has stated that he would enforce the laws of the country and if that means his aunt gets deported then his aunt will be deported.  The LAW comes first.

I can't find if McCain has been asked or has stated that he supports the prosecution of his brother for his criminal activity or if he would interfere with the process.

The president doesn't personally kick people out of the country.  Besides, the President can do whatever they want.  If he wants to get a permanent Visa for his Aunt, it wouldn't be an issue.  It's not like he's going to change immigration policy to open the border up so his Aunt can live here.

This is irrelevant. Even if Obama had been aware of his aunt's illegal status (and I doubt this he hardly new his father, let alone his father's sister), how would it be his responsibility to see her deported? DHS/CIS clearly had her on their books and her case was working its way through the legal process for addressing these cases.

I really loved that bit from Defense5499. Tell me, exactly how homeless people do you know and of that number, how many of them have been paying income tax?

Many of the homeless are employed.

So the argument is that they pay their federal income tax but then never file a return in order to get their refund?

Believe it or not that occurs. Hard to collect a refund if you don't have an address to get mail.  Although somewhat rare.

Also you have people who paid taxes their entire life and then due to misfortune wind up in poverty.  Uninsured medical bills can do that.  I think that may have been what the OP was driving at.

Also a significant portion of the population has paid the most significant tax of all, Vets are a disproportionate number of the homeless.  (and I am not talking about the type of vet Stl fin fan is either)

The OP is somewhat misguided in the complaint, illegal aliens also pay taxes. They almost never file for a refund of withheld taxes as to do so would increase their likelihood of deportation.

I agree with you on all counts.
