So last night I'm watching election coverage and saw McCain's speech.  I thought it was very heartfelt and good and I appreciated the way he scowled at the boos.  After the speech our local station flipped back for local coverage in Maine.  They were talking about the Casino bill, the beverage tax and then said "we're now going to our sister station in New Hampshire who is covering Jeanne Shaheen's victory party."

(Jeanne Shaheen is a Democrat who ousted incumbent Republican Sen. John Sununu)

The TV reported interviewed a person at the party.  What did he think about Shaheen's victory?  Well thought out answer.  What did he think of the tide against the Republicans in this election?  Well thought out answer.  The guy looked like a college professor.  Bow tie, going bald.  Out of no where he says "I'd like to add one thing, Karen..."

At this point he grabbed the mic from the reporter, shoved his face in the camera and screamed:

"OBAMA, BITCHES!!!"

And then walked away.  The reporter just stared into the camera Jim from 'The Office' style.

Huh?Huh

People kill me, man.

That is awesome. You just can't buy entertainment like that.

I just thought it was classless, honestly.  And the TV crew had obviously turned off the seven second delay as they were covering a live party for a Senator and felt it wasn't needed.  I felt bad for that poor girl covering it.

Somehow I was watching some footage from Birmingham, Alabama. It was amazing to see old white men dancing to hip hop and raising the freaking roof. (Someone was performing life, but I couldn't make out who.)

In my predominantly white, upper middle-class neighborhood, there were fireworks and people screaming for joy in the streets. The couple up the street from me with the biggest Obama sign I've seen were in the street with champagne.

^^Did you see any of the celebration scenes from Chicago?  It was cool watching people of all races, that obviously didn't know each other, walking around and hugging, slapping a high-5 - it was a nice moment.

I don't mean awesome in that I would do it myself. I mean awesome as in funny due to the unexpectedness of it. It sounds like a SNL skit more than real life TV. I don't think bitches is a word they would get fined for anyway.

I am happy to see the way the country (and world) has reacted to Obama's election.  Though in the end he did not get my vote (my reasons are all over these boards), I feel (and desperately hope) that he will be the next great American President (by my tally, we've only had 1 borderliner in the last 50 years with Reagan).

On topic now:  Yeah, Maine, I'm not sure if I'd have laughed at that out of humor or disbelief at the lack of class.  It's a toss up.
