With the Lions at risk of going winless, and just last season with the Pats and Fins, this is coming up on sports shows.  What says you?

Wouldn't it be wild if we had both this season?

I voted for winless though...just because I think Detroit has a better chance of going 0-16 than Tennessee has of going 16-0.

Just to be clear for the purposes of this poll what is the definition of undefeated?

16-0 or 19-0?

No losses in regular season, playoffs, or Super Bowl.

In that case, 19-0 is definitely less likely to happen than 0-16...

It would be wild, but it can't happen. Tennessee and Detroit play each other...What if that game is a tie?

Yes it can.  If Tenn wins the game they can go 19-0.  If the Lions lose the game they can go 0-16.

I was scratchin' my head there, too... Wink

I would LOVE to see a tie game between them turn into the only non-win for TN and the only non-loss for Detroit. That'd be hilarious for a long time.

You realize that back in the old NFL days, the Canton (Ohio) Bulldogs actually did have an unbeaten season and won the NFL Championship..... but they tied two games.   Not a perfect season.

Same thing with the Cleveland browns in 1948, 13-0-1 was there record.

just to add, 3 teams through NFL history have gone undefeated (2 non perfect season, 1 perfect season), at least 10 teams i know have gone winless. (Espn page 2 notes 7 winless team as the worst of all time), i also found 3 teams that went winless on football reference.com.

So based on this, more teams have gone winless in NFL history, than have gone undefeated.

Now we're splitting hairs.  Might as well count the NFL from the merger in 1970 forward.  When did the Browns join the NFL (the first time, not in 99)?  I know the Browns are the reason the Rams moved to LA but don't know when they came over from the AAFC.

Also, the rules on ties have been changed over the years, where that scenario is very, very unlikely.

Imagine if you you went 1-0-15. (1 win, 15 ties) you could be undefeated but still not make the playoffs.
