At the time I stated at our local sports bar that the loss to Houston would come back and bite the Dolphins in the rear end. Sad

Any one else feel the same way when that game ended?

Happens every time.  Weren't we 10-6 last time and missed the playoffs primarily due to Texans loss?

All things considered, HOU and BAL are the two best games to lose if we're trying to win the division.

Those are the only two games that are not common games between our division.  Common games are ahead of conference games in tiebreakers, which means that a loss to the AFCW or NFCW would be worse than a loss to HOU or BAL.

That being said,  in this particular year, losing to BAL does hurt our wild card chances.

I think that if you're going to think back on one loss (and even one play), it's the Jets game where fall fell backwards and still got that bogus TD pass.

Things would be very different had we won that game.

The Renaldo Hill meltdown on 4th and 13 in the second quarter?  That sucked but my concern is the Jets are a better team than Houston and we always lose to Houston.  No doubt beating an AFC East is a bigger deal but the Texans game will be the one that got away if the Pats, Jets, and Fins are all tied at 11-5 come year end.

Um, if you wanted to pick one game to regret, reverse the results of the Jets game and we can potentially clinch the division after week 16.

HOU is not a particularly important loss, other than the L itself.  Of any game on the schedule to lose, HOU is the best possible selection.

- It's not a division game.
- It's not a common opponents game (for AFCE and AFCW tiebreakers).
- A win against HOU helps us less than a win against BAL (both for wild card head-to-head, and strength of victory tiebreakers).

The Dolphins have five losses.  None have bit them in the ass.  They are still in it, and need to win the next 3.

While it will bite Miami, you have to hope it will even out in the end & I figure the Oakland win did that.

Yea, I'm on board with that from the first time you posted.  If we (AFC East) all finish 11-5, we've won the tiebreaker so it's a mute point.  I'm just saying as soon as we lose to Houston it seems like we've screwed the pooch.  It's always a close game that we shouldn't lose.  This year, Houston is the only team that beat us that isn't in the playoff hunt.  No doubt beating an AFC East team is a better deal.
