Quote

“He deserves that. If we can get him placed in a spot where he can go to the big game, then we would do that,” the Sun-Sentinel reports that Huizenga said on ESPN Radio 760 AM. “We’ve had a lot of conversation but we never really got down to saying trading him. That never happened. What’s the best thing for Jason? He’s got a big career ahead of him yet…He should go where he can go to the big game.”

Apparently Huizenga doesn’t think his own team can go to the Super Bowl.

Well, it is week 14 and once again Jason Taylor is on a team that is not a contender.  The Dolphins are however, still in the hunt for the AFCE division title.

You should be loyal to your Team after 10 seasons.  I know business is business. I totally get that..........but if your Team is willing to uphold your contract and PAY you , you shouldn't want to go anywhere else.  When the press asked him about leaving he should have said what Zach did..........I'm a Dolphin until told otherwise. He tried to make up for it with the newspaper ad when he left but it was already too late.  But I give him some credit for not going to New England or a division rival. That would have been fucked up.

The thing is, he wanted to be on Dancing with the Stars, when as a leader on this team, he should've been in Miami participating in the offseason program and setting an example for the younger players.

I thought the off-season program wasn't mandatory for vets. If JT's career/off the field projects wasn't enough to set an example for these 20 something yr. old MEN, then sir, you have problems. Parcells didn't want him/like him. Nothing to kick himself over, and really, what are the chances Miami wins the Super Bowl this year or next? Besides, JT wasn't staying here long anyways.

He probably feels dirty for leaving.  But then he takes a bath in money and it's okay.

I doubt he's crying himself to sleep at night.

The only reason the off season program is not mandatory is because the NFLPA collectively bargained for that.  Realistically, the league says coaches cannot force players to be there, but those "voluntary" workouts are not really voluntary.  If you don't participate, you'll draw your coach's ire.  If JT had not gone on with this Hollywood gig and stayed in Miami to work out, none of this would've happened.

He didn't leave because he wanted more money.  He left because he wanted to play football in January.

Agreed. But can you imagine the Team now if he had stayed? Parcells didn't like him because he saw that JT didn't have his head in the game anymore. Dancing for the Stars is great for retired Football players.........not currently employed ones. JT has become about JT. This thread is about weather he made the right decision last year. I believe he has serious doubts. I just hope Parcells uses his 2rd draft pick wisely on a more then capable replacement on the defense.

I'm not saying that Taylor is a mercenary.  But, he's stinkin' rich for doing his job.  I bet he's alright playing wherever he has to.

I'm sure he thinks about what could've been.  It's not like he didn't have an opportunity to stay in Miami.  Bottom line, Jason made his bed, now he has to sleep in it.  It is funny though seeing the team he left behind, a team he thought that had "no chance and no talent" has a chance to play football in January, while the "contender" he wound up at will probably be home for the holidays.

Parcells is big on branding a team.  Zach and JT were the old guard.  They took up a lot of cap room.  Zach missed a lot of games in '07, but Taylor missed parts of a lot of games with nagging injuries--a bad thing by Parcells.  Probably the only thing JT regrets is there isn't a team in LA to go to.

I'm sure he is not losing sleep over it.  The Dolphins may make the playoffs, but they don't have much of a chance of going any further.
