I was temped to stick this in the politics section because well, I know it is gonna turn into a politics discussion.  But it involves the NFL so I stuck it here, if the mods want to move it they know how.

I was quite disappointed to learn that the Marine Color Guard doesn't get to watch the SB.  Do the pregame show, then get the ef out.

What the?  Thats like inviting someone over to say grace at Thanksgiving but not letting them stay for the meal.

I don't think this should be a political discussion at all. This is a decision by the NFL and it is dumb as hell. At first I thought Goddell would be good for the NFL but the longer he stays the more I dislike him.

^^^^^

After the way Goodell handled Spygate, my opinion of him is now the same as my opinion of George W. Bush.

Hmm we agree.  I thought Goodell's handling of it was horrible.

I would be interested in knowing whether or not "other pregame entertainment" at "other super bowls" were required to leave afterwards as well. I doubt this has anything to do at all with it being a military color guard, and think it is probably just the policy of the super bowl management for all pregame entertainers.

As easily as Goodell let the Patriots off the hook, I'd have thought you would have a picture of the Commish inside a heart tattooed on your left ass cheek.

good news they get to stay.

Bunches of people wrote to Florio.

Florio followed up with the NFL.  NFL said that was always our policy we ain't changing it.

NFL realized this was bad PR

NFL reversed its self, color guard stays.

I wouldn't use the same terminology to describe the color guard though. Pregame entertainment makes me think of something much different. Regardless if other color guards were allowed to stay or not it is a bad move. These are invited guests and should be given a seat. If they had been given this same treatment in the past I would have felt the same way.

^^^ and I didn't say that I wouldn't, I was just trying to establish the historical "way it is" in regards to those who take part in super bowl pregame festivities.

I won't cut them out of the "entertainment" group though, because despite any uniforms they may be wearing, they are there in the pregame, performing drill and ceremony as emotional kindling before the main event to get the fans feeling patriotic...and that makes them entertainers.

Yea, they don't really deserve to be in the entertainment group because they entertain nobody, and if they weren't "performing" nobody would miss them.

So now that Ronnie Brown is done for the season, you have to find something negative to say about those who serve.  Life's tough for you right now eh Spongebob Tepop?
