I would not do anything over because I am happy with my life and everything that already happened has shaped who I am right now.
I'm with Stl FinFan.
That said - I wouldn't have minded to see how the following would have played out:
I had a chance in high school to enroll in a private school that is known to be a DI baseball player factory. I turned down that chance because the high school I did go to was known as a baseball power house and we went on to win four state titles my freshman to senior year.
HOWEVER...
I ended up being recruited by D1 schools and offered deals to play football, signing with the University of Oregon on the promise I could also walk on the baseball team. After meeting with the coaching staff I was told that they thought I had "good stuff" but that the talent I faced in high school set my development back too far to be of real use to them.
Needless to say, that forced me to transfer to a school that COULD use me on a baseball field as that was my true sports passion. And I wound up with a national title (even if it is DIII) out of it.
In pure ground hog day fashion - I started working out for scouts and was being told the same thing. I have good stuff but the lack of "MLB talent" in the DIII world has stunted my growth, even lower level A batters would figure me out very quickly and my ability to alter MY game probably isn't there...because I've never had hitters figure me out that quick.
So, long story short, I think everything above is a bunch of crap. I've thrown to players that are on MLB rosters right now with a level of success. I wish I had:
1 - considered that high school more carefully and;
2 - been more assertive to the Ducks staff and scouts that they really needed to see me in game action before making that decision.
I GET it, though. You have two guys, both can touch low 90's with the hard stuff and both have good off speed stuff. One guy is a DI player that has faced lineups littered with guys in the minors and bigs. The other guy has dominated on a lower level but rarely faced pro-ball level players. I would go with the DI guy as well.
That would be my one do over - just to see where things would have gone. But I would ONLY do that do-over if it came complete with my wife and Abby either way. If I had to choose between my family or becoming a Cy Young award winning MLB pitcher it's not even close, give me my family.
