Because the TV station doesn't make money off those ads, therefore they pay less to show NFL games the following season. It would be nice if this would be the beginning of a ticket price reduction. It almost makes you wondr if the agent of the upcoming draft class are going to have a harder time this year also. I just can't see the salaries and prices to continue going up and up. Eventually this bubble has to burst as well.
We'll see what happens in that department. There's a reason why they haven't agreed on a CBA yet. As it stands, 2010 is scheduled to be uncapped, and there might not be any football in 2011 if a new agreement isn't reached. One of the issues at the heart of the new agreement is rookie salaries. In order to create more parity, there needs to be a limit on them. Teams can't afford to keep paying such large contracts to college kids that have never set foot on an NFL field before. If the kid turns out to be a bust, they're stuck with him.

Right, next year they are going to start paying less. They don't already have contracts or anything.

I don't think the teams have anything to do with it. Last year was a 16-0 Patriots team going against the NY Giants. Why would anybody think that is more interesting than the Steelers and the Cardinals.
