I couldn't give a shit..........but you gotta say WTF?  I mean, of all the guys right now who compete in Swimming everywhere what are the odds that they will make any money from it, let alone hit the jackpot like Phelps?   His Lungs and his image are his Ticket. Who gives a fuck what we or anyone thinks........but all those endorsement deals surely do. Why not just not be a moron for a few years and Bank it? Correct me if I am wrong but this story is days old and the only reports I have heard are that his sponsors have not been dropping him. Olympic athletes typically fall out of the limelight quicker than other athletes. I don't think he has too many more deal coming in the near future and his old ones haven't dropped him. I don't see his wallet hurting at all.

Becuase by 26-28 he could be super filthy Rich......who couldn't reframe form getting buzzed for 5 years to be super wealthy?  Ricky thought he could do it. The Money runs out quick ...........   Or at least do it discreetly. His sponsors may ask for Pee tests. Dolt.

I never smoked it in my life, but I am fine with legalizing it. That being said, you have to be smarter than that when you have a VERY short career lifespan, and thus a limited time to make your fortune. He just pissed away about $10 Million in quick endorsements. He will now have to wait another 4 years until he wins another 9 gold medals and his image is rehabilitated.

It sucks to have to live in a Mormon-like bubble, but he knew the situation. He is not a victim.

For the record, Ricky Williams got tore up for quitting his job in an untimely manner in favor of pot.  Not for smoking to begin with.
