Because Boston's second team needs more scoring.  The bench is a little thin.  It's a good move.

I 2nd that!

I'm in the camp that thinks it's kinda no risk.  Boston doesn't really NEED him, so if there's an issue, they can get rid of him without a big stink.  But if they gamble and win, they get a superstar on the bench.

I think some of the problem is that people don't think he will be gone the second he mouths off or looks like he will be a dick. If he is, I agree it is a solid move, unless he is so motivated to prove the Knicks wrong he averages 27 points a night....on 30 shots.

I remember back in Minnesota when him and Garnett were Batman and Robin. Problem was, Marbury didn't want to be Robin.

I just think if this takes away minutes from Rondo it will hurt them.

I'm really not very vocal at all. All I am doing is pointing out a flip side. You and I have had enough discussions for you to know when I am passionate and this thread is not me being passionate.

I know.  It's been slow, I'm bored.  We're talking about BASKETBALL, for God's sake.  What has the world come to??

It would be more of a luxury not a need.  The bench is fine without him and if he plays well is an obvious upgrade.  Look what Boston is doing on the road right now without KG.  They smoked the Suns, crushed the Nuggets...they are fine.  With or without Marbury.

If you aren't a Celtics fan why are you so worried about it?  Me thinks it's because you know it's a no-lose situation for Boston.  Best case scenario they picked up a VERY talented player to bolster their bench for a playoff run.  Middle case scenario is Marbury can't quite get into game shape and doesn't really do much to help one way or the other.  Worst case scenario the guy is a complete dick and he is cut the first week of April, never to be heard from again.

The simple fact of the matter is pretty clear.  Rajon Rondo is the starting point guard on this team.  Eddie House is a fantastic offensive player and has poor ball handling skills.  Marbury could help disfuse that with the second unit.

Tony Allen will be back for the playoffs - so, again, Marbury needs Boston more than Boston needs him.  They are a legit threat to repeat without him.  If Marbury shows up and balls -- it'll be really hard for anyone to beat Boston.

And that, my friend, I believe is the reason why you're being so vocal about it.  You hate the Celtics and you know that it is a win-win for them.

We'll said. This bench needed some upgrading. I don't trust Tony Allen come playoff time, because teams will give him space and force him to hit perimeter shots that James Posey buried on several occasions. Eddir house can't handle extreme full court ball pressure, so Marbury being a true point guard can handle those duties.

For all the haters, Marbury must adapt to us not vice versa. To much leadership on this team for one guy to come and disrupt it. As long Marbury knows that coming in he'll be fine. No lose situation for us.

^I tell you one thing though.  Boston made a HUGE error in not re-signing James Posey.  The Celtics would not need to make this move at all had they just locked him up.  That was flat out dumb letting Posey go.
