Public transportation. People in Chicago can leave their office, walk to a train, and get dropped off a few blocks from the doorstep of Wrigley. Not only that, but people in Chicago actually like the Cubs. In Miami, especially this particular location, anyone who doesn't live in Little Havana has to drive like 30+ minutes to get here, or take the park-n-ride which takes even longer. And the Marlins' fan following isn't strong enough at this point to make people want to take days off from work to go to a baseball game. People here are all very money-driven and thus career-driven. Not to mention that some morons are still pissed about the firesale of 1997. If the stadium deal includes highway off-ramps directly to the stadium and cleaning up the surrounding area, then it will be good. There are already plans for two giant parking garages. The Marlins are obviously excited about it and I think we have to wait and see before we will know the real effects. I also would have liked to see it in Broward county but its for selfish reasons. Going to Panthers' games is a breeze while going to Heat games is a huge hassle. It would have been nice for someone to drop this stadium on the beach somewhere, to really showcase what south Florida is all about.

Do you think the retractable roof will also help attendance,I know that's part of the complaint in Dolphins stadium...

I think it will... to an extent. At 7 pm on a weeknight when it is pouring rain, no one wants to go to a game. However, location and baseball economics in South Florida will always be the main issues.
