I actually spend less by purchasing NFL Sunday Ticket than I would if I did not have ST and went to a sports bar every Sunday.  We figured out it was something like $15-20 per week. Being able to DVR and watch them later is priceless!!

I agree that I woudl not pay for DirecTV if I had to pay for cable anyway.  One of the advantages to home ownership, I guess.

My math came up with going to the bar as being cheaper.  I spend about $15-$20 if I go to the bar, I spend between $5-$10 on beer and food at the supermarket if I am going to say at home and watch.

Plus I don't go to the bar for every game.  Granted there are probably more Patriots games on in Albany than Fins game on in St L.  But between the two Jets-Pats game, an odd Monday night/Sunday night game, the Patriots playing at a different time then the Jets and being the game carried or my visiting family (all in Pats country) I only wind up at the bar for about half the games anyway.

I don't drink beer at home so there is your difference.  Even if I did, it would only be one or two. Smiley
